I was on my little road trip for four days and the second morning I started the car up and all hell let loose on the dash, first came up engine management plus light, then the ABS and then the Traction control warnings, when I connect the little MAC tools code reader it comes up with 4 codes 2 x C1234 and 2 x 1209 car runs fine and completed 700 miles with the warnings every time you restarted the engine.

I have had a look on the forum and I can find the C1234 as left hand ABS sensor but as yet cant find anything for the C1209 has anyone else had the same problems and if so what the best way to tackle the job? Another forum member has had the same C1234 problem last week and he is having his Left side ABS sensor changed at Neil's I have read that the loom can break the wiring where the connector for the sensor is, anyone else had this on the R8 ?

Quick search, both codes seem ABS related.

Reading that makes me think it may be wiring fault rather than the sensor, would rather it be just the sensor!

Popped over the hill to Neils garage and he checked the harness and all looks ok so pretty sure the sensor is naff, he is going to order one from MF and fit along with a service too, plus the car will be detailed at the same time by someone he knows, looks like good work he has done.
