Db9 throttle noise
Discussion
Hi This is my first post here and couldn't find one on this subject before I posted. I own a db9 on an 05 plate and recently after having the engine rebuilt I have started hearing an unusual noise. It seems to happen in auto when changing gears with the revs still on or when you punch the throttle it's very loud but it's a strange noise like a 'whoop' similar to the sound of a pigeon. If anyone could point me in the direction of what this could be it would be great thankyou
Hearing strange engine or transmission noises, is certainly not what we want with expensive cars.
Hope you don't mind me asking, but who did your engine rebuild, and what happened to require a rebuild.
We used to have a contributor here (maverick), who whenever he heard an unusual engine noise with his DB9, would take the engine to pieces. We admired his extreme confidence to even attempt such work. When everything was in pieces though, he would post photographs and ask questions. That usually led to some 'banter', which perhaps upset him, because he is absent now. After one rebuild, he immediately drove to the Arctic and back, so he could build engines. Think the original ticking noise was still present though unfortunately.
There are some mechanical experts here, so perhaps they will answer your question.
Good luck. Hope it is not a major problem.
I will be bringing it into our mechanics on Tuesday to hear the noise for themselves as I haven't had time recently and it's the day Im taking it to have the back box removed and replaced with straight pipes which should sound awesome. The reason for the rebuild is for something we seems quite common with the db9 after looking into it which is oil starvation to the rear two cylinders causing an absolute mess. This is because aston Martin initially sold the cars with an incorrect dipstick which they did a recall on years later for cars that went into them but as mine wasn't dealer services it never had the dipstick replaced so when it was near low on the dipstick it was ln fact very low
