Recently imported new toy into England, Totoya HZJ78L Troop Carrier.

Liked its history and specification.

HISTORY -

First owner painted it black to be visible in snow and spent time exploring Alaska and Canada.

Second owner shipped it to Singapore and drove back to Europe, spending time in China (it came with the old Chinese number plate).

Third owner prepared it for trip to South Africa before girlfriend peed on a stick and screamed with happiness, immediately cancelling their expedition.

Fourth owners drove it from Amsterdam to Saudi Arabia, then over to Sudan and down to South Africa and back.

Now it's my turn.

Brilliant. I've always loved the number of overlander vehicles in Oz, but you hardly ever see any in the UK (the occasional G-Wagen or similar, but that's about it). Looking forward to seeing your build thread.

Come the end of the world the only things left standing will be cockroaches and Land Cruiser Troopies.

I love these things, my partner's 80 year old gran drives around Australia in a troopy.
Parts availability for these are supposed to be amazing in the most isolated places in the world. Good luck and keep us updated

Wonderful car and what a history! I remember being in an Australian Army one of these in one of the more remote Solomon Islands ten years ago, it felt indestructible!

Thanks for the positive posts!

Started gutting but became distracted by shower.

I've built-bodged a shower in our camper, but this is the first time I've owned a vehicular shower.

Filled 40 litre underslung steel tank using garden hose

Attached shower hose to pipe within engine bay

Shurflo pump in engine bay

Heat exchanger (cabin temperature dial controls shower water temperature) - needs tidying

And a decent pressure outdoor hot shower commenced, once "hidden" pump switch in engine bay clicked on

One was amused.

And one can keep the vehicle clean in deepest Mongolia.

Thanks. All over the place hopefully.

Five weeks in Iceland this summer to test the setup, then possibly probably potter South America.

Indeed. It's either utterly knackered after so much overlanding or the previous owners hyper-serviced and maintained the Troopy to such an extent that it's in fine fettle.

Thanks. They're rare in the UK, hence my importing it.

There's a Troopy 78 for sale at the moment in Lincolnshire at £65,000

Someone smoking something

You could import a 4.5 v8 turbo troopy from Japan or Oz and bolt all the bits on for less than that

I built my 80 up with almost the same spec for about fifteen grand, and it certainly wasn't worth fifteen grand when I sold it!

OP- nice truck though, where did you find it?
