I've recently bought a 2010 V12V with 12500 miles. When pulling off in first, there is a short squeak/squeal from the clutch. Has any body else encountered this? The clutch seems to be working fine with no slipping. Thanks all.

It was a known issue and many of the cars had a replacement clutch fitted very early on in their life. Perhaps yours never did or it didn't manifest itself in the warranty period. Do you buy with an extended warranty - not sure if it will be covered anyway but might be worth checking if you do have one.

As Adam has said, from vin S00600 ish, the V12V had an updated clutch which stops this noise which I believe is some kind of housing vibration.
Earlier cars should have had the clutch replaced under warranty and the updated item fitted.

I've also got this issue - particularly noticeable during anything more than very delicate get aways. How easy is it to convince them to do this under warranty? Did any of you present any special detail that sealed this? I was told that it's not damaging or detrimental to performance, it's just annoying - so I'm expecting some resistance.

Cheers

I took my car to Bamford Rose for a service and Mike found the issue. I drive like Miss Daisy so no spirited off the line GO from me to even notice the problem in the first place...

Basically Mike wrote up what the problem was, I googled all the technical terms and then presented a version of what he said to the AML dealership. When (several times) they tried to quibble I repeated the same process.

If you car has the right VIN then AML will eventually pay up 100% of supply and fit for the new clutch but some dealers are VASTLY more helpful than others.

This is why I took my V12V to BR before the warranty had expired, so they could find any gremlins that I would not or could not. In total I think I paid BR a few hundred pounds for the inspection and AML ended up doing about £5500 of work. This was a few years back, so the numbers may be wrong - I had respray work done (paint bubbling - the classic Gaydon paintshop issue), new clutch, some new bits in the engine compartment, some electrical modules and I think a new module to control the passenger seat.

Thanks for the replies. I emailed the dealer I bought the car from - non AM - and he said he called AM and the squeak is a 'characteristic' of the car. Guess it's some thing I'll have to get used too now the car is out of dealer warranty.

I'm not sure your supplying dealer is being honest. I would not go so far as to call him out for bare-faced lying, but not far,

It's not a characteristic of the car if your VIN matches, it's a recognised manufacturing defect.

I think your supplying dealer is just getting all Pontius Pilate with this and washing his hands...

If the car is out of the warranty period, AM will do nothing since it does not affect performance in any way. Is just embarrassing.

Do you mean original (3 year) warranty, or the extended warranty with approved used?

AM warranty for sure. Can't aay anything about the extended ones, but I'd be surprised if it was covered.
