ABS Pump E60 M5

Abs warning light came on, got it diagnosed they are saying the ABS pump has gone. £2k plus fitting from a Indy!! Or get the current one repaired fitted for around £500.
Does anyone have any experience with these, would getting mine repaired do the trick or would it just be a short term fix?
Also I had no issues driving the car what would have been the tell tale signs of the pump being on its way out?

If the car is a keeper than get the new part installed by a reputable Indy. As you know, these are expensive cars to keep going but console yourself that you have that majestic V10 to compensate.
I'm planning on selling it in September and upgrading to a F10 M5. So rather than spending 2k on it now I think getting this current one repaired is the best option. I have been told the company that repairs the current one comes with a lifetime guarantee..Aye, sods law its an ABS/wheel speed sensor that needs replacing.
Same thing happened on my Golf Mk4 many years ago. ABS light was triggered when I braked very hard. Diagnostic machine said I needed a new pump. Cue me sh*tting my pants as I was only a student then.
Someone then suggested an ABS sensor which was around £40. The light went off and the problem never came back.

Most problems have been covered on there and just reading through the posts gives me reassurance these days.
When problems happened on my M6 I new what they were and how they could be rectified.
The sad thing is now, looking bad, my M6 was not a dud at all. All it needed was a more understanding from the technicians and myself and my dealership visits could have been cut down to 2 instead of 5 or 6.
Ya live and learn I guess.

You do ineed, thanks for this advice. I will look into the sensor route too. Yes it happened under hard braking just once! So I drove it today for the first time since Saturday when the lights came on. As started the car the lights were all on I pulled away an the lights went off..
Carried on driving still stayed off. Traction was kicking in when supposed to, so I did the ABS test once it was fine nothing no warnings second time it came on again the same warnings.
Could this be the sensor or the pump?

No I don't I took it to my Indy an he told me that the pump has gone. It's gone off again an not come on again I haven't tested the ABS again. Spoke to the Indy he said if it was the sensor that error would have come up. He said as it's the pump that error will come up. He said that it will sometimes come on an off ie the warning lights.. Not sure if he's trying to get more work out of me than needs be. So difficult to trust any mechanics these days. Spoke to another Indy he said that if it's an intermittent fault then it's most likely the Pump and not the sensor. It only comes on under hard braking ie when having to use the ABS. (Not something I would want to risk being faulty).
