<b>PH Track Day 2005 @ Spa</b>

For some time now PHers have been asking for a trip to Spa, so here we go.
Date
Thursday July 21st
The Track Day
The track day is being run by Goldtrack and the cost is £250. It'll be open pit lane and there are no noise restrictions. They are also running a track day on the Wednesday so if you wanted to really indulge then just ask for both days when booking!
To book, please use Goldtrack's website. Click the 'online booking' button on the home page. When entering your car details, please suffix with (PH). If you don't wish to use the online booking mechanism then please email info@goldtrack.co.uk or call 01327 361361.
Travel
Given the lofistical complexities we've experienced in the past on the travel front, for this trip we recommend you book your own travel. You can therefore travel when you want by ferry or tunnel, with trailer, without etc. etc.. You can also stay longer if you want to make a long weekend of it.
Eurotunnel is currently looking like £119 return, and Ferrysavers are quoting from £49 for Dover-Dunkirk or £82 for Dover-Calais.
Accomodation
Goldtrack have suggested we try the Le Rouannay hotel which they've used in the past. This is near to the track and has good food, a pool and secure underground parking.
Further hotels are detailed here if necessary.
Hope that's to everyone's satisfaction. Obviously it's a bit more 'self-select' than our previous Folembray trips but hopefully this will give everyone the most flexibility with regard to how to travel and when to travel.
We've had almost 40 cars on previous trips so hopefully we can get a similar throng together for this one! PH stickers will be made available to attendees

Have stayed there a few times - good hotel very close to circuit. Limited parking though especially for those with trailers. Ferrari usually book it out entirely during GP weekend. Excellent value at about £100 per night in the hotel itself (smaller, older rooms)& £150 in the new block "across the yard", the rooms of which tend to be larger & more modern. Very good restaurant. Recommended.

Must be us poor S drivers then Peter because I thought the same
. Even when 'expensed' I would baulk at that too
. Educate me please, apart from the circuit, what else is in the area to justify those levels of pricing

There are of course many cheaper hotels in the area. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. The Rouannay is the best but clearly not everybody's cup of tea. You'll find hotels in the area to suit most budgets. Excellent value was meant to be a relative term, relative to quality available, not relative to price of beds elsewhere.
You'll certainly find beds not far from the circuit at £50 or so if that's preferred. Hope this link helps :

To be honest, I think that mini-Eurohoon is probably more of a viable proposition than this for this year.
But I will do Spa one day, and hopefully whilst Eau Rouge still has some semblance of its glory.

For me- Yip, its too far to go & not get a 'ring session (or indeed 2-3 days there)

Let me know the score and I'll see what I can do.
Now clearly the logistics of this may be difficult, but at the moment the event is no different from any other trackday where a number of PHers happen to attend. So for me it becomes much more attractive if there is an all-inclusive travel/accomodation/track day package: not for the ease of booking, but the fact that it should mean the social side of the event is going to happen.
This isn't going to suit some - but it is never possible to please everyone.
Oh, and it'll be even better if we had the trackday exclusively for PHers - so come on everyone:

i'll go to Spa again this year, but it'll back onto something else...the Ring is the obvious choice.

If we're going to do the one stop package with travel and accomodation then I'd like to do it with a fully bonded travel operator.
A full package is being investigated right now.
