Koenigsegg One:1 at Suzuka: Time for Coffee?

Astounding car, breathtaking circuit, quite good video

Only quite good? Well yes, there is the potential for this Koenigsegg onboard to be even better still. See the One:1 driven here was on fairly old brake pads, and the car wasn't shipped to Japan with any replacements.

Let's hope the car can return fully fit because this preview offers a tantalising glimpse of just how absurd the One:1's performance can be. It still recorded a 2:17.57 on this fairly sedate lap which is ruddy fast around Suzuka. In the vid you can witness just how intense the acceleration is, how brutal those gearchanges are and actually the benign the car looks when it's sideways out of the hairpin. It's always nice to be reminded just how spectacular Suzuka is too. Return soon please Koenigsegg!

Watch the vid here.

Has anyone ever seen a Koenigsegg make a clean no-holds barred launch? Almost every clip I've seen is either wheelspin city or rolling start (followed by wheelspin) undeniably mad and powerful but since Lamborghini got Audi'd they seem the most unwieldy and outlandish cars rather than actually very fast.

As someone who has spent time at the factory and is considering ordering a 1:1...I can assure you they are actually very fast wink

I don't know how you could think something like that is anything but very fast.

Looks absolutely mental, and not even on full chat.

Sounds like the Gran Turismo engine noise experts have had a hand in tuning this hehe

Saw one at the last VMax, seriously capable bit of kit! They absolutely fly once the wheelspin is gone.

I think it sounds quite good, but turbos always muffle the intake and exhaust noise. To me it sounds a lot better than the Huayra, and similar to AMG turbo V8s, but a bit noisier/revvier.

You are correct - but it will be possible to order the face lifted Agera with all of the 1:1 goodies on - so essentially the same car.

As Christian said to me...if I give him enough money he can build me a helicopter! hehe

Is the car in this videos a customers or is it Koenigseggs own? Is the cage an add on merely for the track usage or is part of the One:1 package? It also looks a little unfinished around around the air vents. Sounds alright to me

Awesome car dispatching a ridiculous lap time and making it look easy...

Yes certainly sounds alright!

The whole vid reminded me of In Car 956. The speed, the rather brutal, clanking upshifts and all that whooshing. Seems a very serious bit of kit and not in a friendly way either. I wouldn't fancy my chances in that at all!

Two things strike me.

1 - It seems quite well behaved
2 - Gear shift seems awfully slow

Love it though. Wish they got into the hands of the press a bit more though. Precious few decent videos around.

hmmmm Agera or helicopter... I think I'd choose the Agera!
Have you looked at the Pagani's too?

If the One:1 is really as fast as its made out to be, why couldn't it beat a Boggo standard Veyron at VMax? The Veyron is a 10 year old car now, and lets not forget the Supersport has an extra 200bhp over the standard car. But the One:1 couldn't even beat that with the Koenigsegg test driver behind the wheel and just a regular guy driving the standard Veyron?

Also, the Veyrons acheive their quoted bhp on standard fuel (well ok the shell vpower stuff), but the One:1 requires some pumped up bio-fuel to acheieve its quoted bhp.

I think a lot of people may have been a bit quick to write off the Veyron as the fastest car in the world. Plus the Veyron is a very useable car. I took one for a spin a few years back and you'd be amazed at just how easy it was to drive a 1000bhp hypercar.

Oh no doubt but whenever they are showing it off they do rolling starts and crush all-comers, whenever its in public hands doing 0mph launches it looks a bit of a handful.

Its a phenomenal thing but I wonder if that much power needs more traction off the line in such a light car? Wheels spinning is fine and all but the 918/Le Ferrari/P1 generation appear to launch in a more controlled (quicker) manner?

Seems pretty comfortable here. There's all sorts of factors involved I guess. The second race is closer, with the main advantage for the Veryon seemingly the speed of the gearshift.
