Hi,
I just installed Schroth belt that comes with Clubsport package.
It was almost plug&play operation, took me 45min.

All is good but I am not sure what to think about factory anchorage location for the 6th belt.
According to the Schroth manual those points shall be vertical down from the groin, preferably approximately 20 degrees back:

http://www.hmsmotorsport.com/docs/Co...structions.... (page 16)

The car comes with anchorage points from the factory which are way beyond that angle. I would say approximately 50-60 degrees. They are even way behind the anchorage points for the hip belt!
That creates another problem which is the length of the 6th belt. With such installation I find this belt pretty short. The manual says nothing how much of the belt must be left free from the bracket. I have only 5cm left. I am not sure if this is safe. (for the shoulder belt min 10cm should be left free).

Has any of you come across the same problem?

Hi,

Was your harness sold with the vehicle or did you purchase separately? Normally if you've got a harness that's been delivered with your Porsche, it should all fit easily as Schroth deliver it tailored to fit the model. If you've got a generic kit from Schroth, you may need to ask them for some bespoke fixings for the GT3. All I can suggest, sorry!

I have exactly the same issue. The crotch belt is way too short. I had it installed at its longest position but as you say there's a safety 5cm to be respected. When seat is nice and close to the wheel like it should be in race position the belt is just short. Weirdly so.

Hi,
the harness is the original part of the Clubsport package.

I am quite tall (186) and seated more rearward than forward which should help with the belt length problem. I don't see shorter people seated more forward given length of the 6th belt as the belt is attached to the chassis not the seat.

What about anchorage points? They are definitely not at position stated by the manual :/

It is weird. Looks like no one from Porsche was actually seated with this set up.
Just a quick question. I could find information about the shoulder belt that 10cm should be left free after the bracket but no info about the crotch belt. Have you seen it somewhere in the manual?
Thanks!

To be honest I had the OPC fit mine.... as I ordered a CS with harnesses on both sides they fitted it as part of the delivery (albeit with a few months delay)

I have contacted Schroth and they can make longer belt for me. Was also informed that Porsche tested anchorage points. I sent an inquiry to Porsche as well.
Before I continue with the order I will try to clam this issue with Porsche first. Hope they can order longer belt for me for free smile

Minimum 50mm tails on the other type fixings. This usually includes crotch belts. Schroth have a fairly detailed manual available that covers most install questions.

Thank you for your information. I have read the manual a few times but never found anything how much belt should be left for the anti sub strap. I have found actually 5cm mentioned but for a different type of bracket (twin bracket).
Schroth in their reply stated that it should be in fact 10cm. That makes sense to me as the bracket is of the same type as for the shoulders.

The long manual has all the details for installation and wrapping instructions for each type of attachment available. As per above, it depends - in the main - on what type of fixing end there is on the belt. Most lap belts I have seen have needed only 50mm left on the lap portion with the type of end supplied. YMMV, and in this case obviously does.

Purely for my own interest. How is the mounting point below the seat on the 991 then? Is it on the floor of the car if it doesn't move with the seat? Sounds like a cluster$%^£

I only got a CD together with the harness. I think it is the short version then. Where can I find the complete one?

The anchorage points are in the floor. There are two threaded holes for I think 7/16'' bolts (something between 11 and 12mm).
That means this belt is fixed and doesn't move with the seat. You have to find the seat position first and then adjust the belt which is real pain in the back due to very limited access to the brackets under the seat.

Anyway nearby dealer asked to come over to make a report and possibly I will get longer belts. I will let you know.

Latest information for those interested...
Porsche is aware of the problem. They know that the 6th belt is just too short.

The fastest way to have this belt longer is to contact Schroth. They sell this belt in 900mm length. 48EUR net.

This may or may not be helpful but I recently updated the Schroth harness in my 996.

Schroth harness specially tailored for Porsche: £397.
Schroth Clubman II-6 Saloon: same colour, FIA approved, 6-point, HANS compatible: £168. Fits perfectly and no Porsche tax.

Super useful info thanks. If you have some contacts on where to order this bad boy from I would be interested.

Amazing the useful stuff you find on PH once you ignore the value/depreciation/premium threads.

I found Demon Tweeks to be very good for a lopt of stuff. I got my new Schroth Harness from there. Also if you want to order just specific Schroth components they can get those too. Dave Kimberley is the man. Very helpful indeed.
