Isle of Man TT 2015: PH2

A fairytale TT in more ways than one...

What can you say about the 2015 TT races except that they were incredible? The story of the whole event was set to be Ian Hutchinson's amazing return to form after his horrific leg injuries. Three TT wins for Hutchy and after his first win of the week in the Supersport class, there wasn't a dry eye in the post race interview room. An amazing story and an incredible return for a chap whose leg was set to be amputated, had over 30 operations on it, was actually rotting from the inside out and requires him to ride with a right-mounted gear change as it is still unable to operate properly. What an absolute hero and a man whose determination is only matched by his skill and his ability to soak up pain, grit his teeth and get on with it. And then the Senior TT happened...

If you haven't seen the shortened second race - watch it. John McGuinness might have taken a Zero TT win earlier in the week, but many were writing the King of the Mountain off as the young pretenders were starting to come through. Never write off McPint! An absolutely mind-bendingly fast Senior race saw McG not only set the fastest ever lap from a standing start of 131.850mph but also Guy Martin, Michael Dunlop and James Hillier all set 132mph average laps and McG smash in a new absolute course record of 132.701mph. The man was riding like an absolute demon and once again, like he did a few years ago when Michael Dunlop was his team mate, John has demonstrated that he is the true King of the TT.

Add to this incredible racing action the side story of Michael Dunlop's split from the Milwaukee Yamaha team, the Buildbase squad subsequently shipping out a BMW for him, Peter Hickman setting a 131mph lap in only his second ever TT, Guy saying his gran would have ridden the Triumph better than him and then hopping on the Victory electric bike and, of course, the beer and you have one hell of a TT to remember.

Never really got the bike thing always preferred my cars, bikes irritate me and so do some of the riders especially when i cant move in traffic and they sit next to me revving their engines trying to squeeze past, the fools i am in an 11 year old smoker i don't care !

But if a child should ever ask me 'what does grow a set of balls mean' i would say go to the Isle of Man and watch the TT, then you will understand

Got back yesterday and I must say going back to work is always a challenge after a week spent at the best motorcycling event in the world. Simply an amazing place and the quality of the riders is incredible. Really glad JMG got the Senior!!

I'm going back for the TT Classic in Aug and have booked ferry and accommodation for TT next year.

Got back yesterday from my first ever TT. Quite possibly the most friendly, exciting and down right jaw dropping motorsport event I've ever been too.

Cant afford to do it every year but I'll be working my hardest to go back in the next few years.

The racing is hard and on the edge, the access to teams and riders is better than anything I've been to before. Its a bucket list event for sure!

Reserve your ferry place now and if you cannot afford it, get a tent/second job! If you don't, you'll regret it smile I first went in 1997 just to see what it was like and have been going to the TT/MGP every year since, the place/event is addictive!

Another Marathon TT 3 weeks of pain & suffering but we wouldn't have it any other way (even though the team had a shocker) thanks to all of you fans who made it a great one. If some of you want to see some more fantastic racing come & watch some other Road Races rather than a Time Trial Southern 100 & of course the Fastest of them all the Ulster GP look forward to seeing you there.

Highlight for me was Bruce's win with all the players there.

I really really cant wait now... S100, CofN, UGP and Gold Cup.... The S100 is the jewel out the lot f you ask me, unspoilt by corporate greed and still as raw as ever.

Blew me away first time in 99. The most incredible spectacle & everyone involved is my hero. Words cannot do it justice.

My first TT this year, having moved to the Isle for 12 months.
Probably one of the best weeks of my life.

Not just the fantastic racing, but the atmosphere of the place was palpable.

I was rooting for Peter Hickman, who scored a few top 10 finishes, and his 675 MV Agusta Iron Maiden Trooper bike was pretty nice. Didn't realise he'd posted a 131mph lap, but thought he was capable of it.

Another highlight was Cam Donald on the Norton, which sounded like nothing else.

The only downside was some of the driving and riding encountered on the public roads...

And don't forget Lintin, who scored his first TT win. Great ride.

Having seen the footage on YouTube of the 310bhp supercharged 1.0litre road Kawasaki it really shows how crazy these bike racers are no other word for it ,sorry to ask but did anyone die this year I don,t know another sporting event which people die on every year which would be allowed ? It's just too crazy a risk but it does not seem to put anyone off !

Yes, a french racer who had previously had a very bad crash at the NorthWest 200, he crashed in practise and died from his injuries (RIP), but he was there, wanting to do it.

REALLY Boils my piss that people think they have the God given right to sanitise the world we all share in the bullst name of health and safety. It's fun, it's been there since some of our ancestors left the caves, it's taking a risk, it's thrill seeking, it's what life is about for some.

Go tell fat people to stop eating?, tell ruthless 3rd world dictators to be nice to people? tell kids to stop drinking & taking drugs? mountaineers to stop climbing....????

Didn't think so.

Hope I didn't just rise to someone trolling, but felt I needed to say that.

I'm not into bikes in the least, but these guys are the bravest, craziest sportsmen in the world. Truly astonishing. I am going to give great thought to the idea of going next year.

IMHO Michael Dunlop would have shaken up the results had he not had that accident on the first day...

Nice to see Ian Hutchison back on winning form.
He fought very hard on this years NW200 aswell!

I went in 1995 & '96 I think. '96 was unbelieveably hot. It was the most perfect holiday, tear-arsing around on my 'blade with my mates. 2/3 tanks of petrol a day and not blinking an eye at the price per litre!!
At the Creg one night we were chatting up local girls and one said she wanted to try my leathers on. My mates dared me to put her dress on which I did (for a bet) and I jumped on the wall just in time for the Performance Bike crew to come round the bend in an Renault Espace! yikes
Luckily they had no cameras to hand...
Topped it off with the most fantastic firework display over the beach on Mad Sunday night which seemed to go on for ages. Best I've ever seen.

Robsco if you are thinking about going get it booked now as some ferries are already fully booked and there will be less crossings next year due to steam packet not being able to rent the P&O vessel that they use for the Irish crossings.

I thought I read on here that the ferries were already booked for 2016?

They are not all fully booked, last time I heard there were two crossings booked up. It did say in our local paper that there will be less crossings in 2016 due to the loss of the charter P&O vessel.
