Personally I think he will do a good job. Probably a lot better than any of the other front runners and most certainly well qualified in both the business and the subject matter.

Hmm. Car nut, not afraid of controversy, decades of experience, hugely intelligent and liable to go a bit off-script.

Reminds me of someone...

Seems a reasonable choice? If you look at it in a different context, say JC dropped dead instead of dropping an assistant, we'd be applauding someone stepping in to his shoes to keep the show running, and hopefully reviving a pretty tired format.

Great choice. He's a true petrolhead with a great taste in cars who wants to share that passion with people.

It won't be TopGear as we know it, but it needed refreshing.

Hopefully it'll get back to being more about cars.

(But it won't be anywhere near as successful).

Bad move, total disaster......

Clarkson had a million sign up for his return to Top Gear, and that's because he had a connection with a large proportion of TG viewers.

Could you see that happen with Evans? Not a chance. Too many of his mates will be on the show telling us about their latest £5mill Ferrari.

10/1 James Martin will be on the first show as a guest.

Slaughtered 3 minutes after he's announced as the new presenter.

I like him, he knows his cars, puts his money where his mouth is, does a lot of work for charidee and has the right style for the job, give the chap a chance.

Given the other names banded around to replace the late JC (Jodie Kidd, Nick Knowles etc) I think he is a good choice. He is a celeb and not a car journalist but he is known and liked and disliked in equal measure like JC.
As he has a 288GTO he obviously has impeccable taste in cars so I am willing to give him the benefit for now.

If they get the other 2 right it could work really well - Chris Harris and Henry Catchpole would work really well for me, enthusiastic puppy and posh geek - sound familiar?

Good luck getting Jay Leno, he could probably buy the BBC let alone Top Gear.

And Jay Kay ..... If you think Evans is annoying he takes it up to 11.

Evans is a good choice. Think back to JC first ever Tg review which was awful, if critics had there way at that time think ofwhat we'd have all missed out on. Evans is a petrol head and good entertainer so give him a chance before passing judgement .

This nonsense with TG is like dealing with a slow motion car crash.

Just shut the show down (this happened as soon as JC walked/pushed) bury the name, let the dust settle then start again.
This whole car programme thingy needs a re-format and this would have been the ideal opportunity
