Hennessey Ford F-250 Velociraptor

Jurassic World used the wrong cars!

In Britain an MPV is a Zafira diesel. In America this is an MPV! The Hennessey Velociraptor, a pick-up-come-SUV with up to eight seats, a wheelbase longer than Route 66 and 600hp. Or 650hp if you fancy it.

Did someone say Canyonero?
Did someone say Canyonero?
This is familiar Hennessey fare, taking a fast Yank tank and making it even more silly still. Beginning with a Ford F-250 6.2 pick-up, the Velociraptor adds the four-door SUV body, captains chairs with a folding third row and the Velociraptor front bumper upgrade. For added get-the-hell-out-of-my-way prestige.

As for powertrain, there are three choices: the V8 can be supercharged to 600 or 650hp, or there's a diesel option. Yep, a Hennessey diesel. 6.7 litres, 440hp and 880lb ft... Further Velociraptor options include wheel and tyre upgrades, suspension tweaks plus a light bar and front winch to make that front bumper even more pushy (and, er, pully for that matter too).

Hennessey says allow six months for delivery, with prices starting at $159,500, or just over £100K at today's exchange rate. A little more expensive than a Zafira diesel then. One final thing - all Hennessey pick-up owners must use their vehicle like out PH Carpooler. You just have to.

For some taste of Velociraptor, see the MY14 car here.

1) I wouldn't touch Hennessey with a bargepole. He's very charming but also the most untrustworthy guy in the tuner business. There are many other tuners out there who will build you just as good a V8 while not ripping you off mercilessly.

2) While the appeal of a big body-on-frame SUV with a big V8, eight/nine seats AND a big boot is strong, the Chevrolet Suburban is a far more handsome base to start with...

Neither Hennessey, nor Ford, but this similarly purposeful looking Ram is often parked outside my neighbors house.
