Classic Clarkson review of 911 Targe 4 GTS in Sunday Times
Discussion
I see Clarkson is still on form with an amusing review of the 911 Targa 4 GTS.
It's more to do with the type of people who get sucked in for "loaded up Spec'd car" rather than the car itself, but still shows he can wind up the situation.
Made me smile over coffee and crossiants this morning

they're the best....
driver's cars...
big potato's on...
Agree. It's absolutely light entertainment but people still bite and they know that...
I thought their swan-song features last night were actually slightly better than normal, but the Show lacked the normal audience particpation with the Trio milking it for TV. I wonder how hard they bit their lips for those link pieces?

Agree, it looked the least they could do to not breach contract and nothing more. Hammond couldn't even be bothered taking off his jacket. It was a sad end really with such effortless links and a bare studio. It may have become a tired format, but it was good entertainment.

Well done you ....you know it...haven't you I'm surprised? you should take one for a test drive (I have several models several times GTS Coupe, Targa & Turbo S ) then you'll be able to formulate your own opinions rather than listening to and taking onboard the ramblings of a comedy oaf anyway the Targa4 GTS satisfies my need for top off/down motoring without having to go full Cabriolet and 430BHP is more than enough to drive quickly.....by the way don't get me wrong I like Clarkson as a light entertainer he's extremely funny and will be sadly missed on TG but not as a genuine car critic somebody you'd actually take notice of he's far to unobjective in his opinions....there are far more sensible and objective car critics than Clarkson Would have.......LOL.....you are so correct
Touchy, touchy
You should read posts/articles first. I never criticised the Targa, merely described what Clarkson wrote and thought it funny in the light of what he normally does...and certainly don't need lessons in how to select a Porsche from a User named GT3-RS. How 'last year'...

not touchy in the slightest and I never said you had criticised it I merely made a point in a round about way that you shouldn't believe all you read and especially so from a Comedy oaf such as Clarkson.....now calm down and stop throwing your toys out of your pram.....oh just one last thing....."CampinGaz" so on trend Gareth....LOLYou should read posts/articles first. Touché, but at least not such a presumptious 'Look at me' User Name
p.s - haven't got many toys in my car. Need a spec'd up GTS for that

I actually think Clarkson got the Targa right. Great looking car but a triumph of form over function.
The roof is overly complex and heavy - and try driving it fast with it open, you get too much buffeting and reverberation. Makes you wonder if the designer actually drove it before signing it off.
We came to close to part exchanging my wife's cabriolet for one but I couldn't persuade her - and I tried hard

You've dipped out then cause according to my OPC they won't be producing Targas in the 991 Facelift version next year and none in the new 992 after that so no more Targas for at lest 4yrs apparently....maybe everThe roof is overly complex and heavy - and try driving it fast with it open, you get too much buffeting and reverberation. I rest my case. Perhaps the designer did eventually drive one History shows they have never sold as well - and tend not to hold their value as well- as coupe. Still fab looking though - which is more than you can say for previous targas.
