And I can't wait, ok been a member on here for some time but only used the site to sell a previous car and now the time has come to finally get one of the cars I have always wanted and yes the Chim or possibly a Griff will soon be mine.

Hi I'm Paul and just thought I would say hello and share a little bit of history about my car ownership and love for the V8.

I have always had a love for the V8s as my dad owned many P6 rover 3.5 V8s throughout my childhood, so the sound and smell of the leather interior is ingrained in my soul. He then went on to own a 5.0 ford Mercury Capri which was basically a 1979 Ford mustang.

I am a complete petrol head and at the young age of 18 I had my hands on a Renault 5 GT Turbo which I owned for 7 years. Before the 5 I had a mini 1000 with full wide arches and peco tailpipes. Lol.

I then Remember seeing an ad for the new fiesta Z tech S to which at the time I really loved the look off.. I ended up getting one new in red but within just under a year I got very bored with, as the performance was just not up to what I found acceptable or enough to keep me interested.

Then the love affair started with the Honda Civic Type R. At the time it was the fastest car you could buy new for under £20,000. Me and a friend got one new at the same time, mine in Milano red and his in night Hawk black.. Boy we had some fun. I went on to own this fantastic car for almost 8 trouble free years, drove through Europe on two occasions and through the Italian,French and Swiss Alps with the owners club.

Ok so all this time I'm thinking god I got to get a v8 of some sort, so started looking at Grifs and Also sumo replica Ac Cobras. But at the time I needed a daily drive and was not in a position to have a second car. So the V8 Ownership was put on hold for the time being. Anyway moving on....

:-) Something as now caught my eye and I can't sell my Beloved Honda fast enough. It's a white Ford Focus RS Mk 2. 305 bhp out the box 11k on the clock one owner from new. It has to be mine so the Honda is sold on and I make a move on the beast.

What a complete beautiful looking car im thinking as I'm driving back from Wales after picking her up but can't help but feel the performance ain't quite aggressive enough for how the car looks. So I save up for about 4 months and book her in for a stage 4 revo remap. I kid you not when the car was finished and I drove her home I had never been so scared, excited and completely thrilled by a car in my life, After driving her for 2 or 3 weeks I booked her in on the rollers and she was running 393bhp and about 411 pounds torque. The car was a compleat beast and when I say nothing could out run it I mean nothing could. I took her to Santa pod and ran 2 runs one at 12.003 and one at 12.189. I hit just over 124mph and was made to buy a helmet for my second run due to there rule of having to were a CH in soft tops and anything that does over 120mph.

The quarter of a mile did not do the car justice, this car really started performing after hundred mile an hour but All this extra power come with an absolutely huge cost. Front tyres what felt like ever 3/4 months, high octane fuel that it just went through like nothing I could have ever imagined and for a daily drive was just to much.

So a year and 2 months on I put her up for sale and ended up selling her to revitup.com. I now know why so many modded RS's are not owned for to long lol, the running cost is just insane.

Ok so now i got my V8 :-) in the shape of a 10 year old 645 BMW fully loaded in black. She's a Beauty and better on fuel then the RS lol. Yes a V8 better on fuel then a 2.5 Volvo engine in the focus.

I'm loving the luxury comfort and good performance. This car can handle hot hatches of the mark and murders them
On the motor way. Not so good on the Country lanes tho lol bit like navigating a battleship down a river.

Anyway long long story cut short the car started having problems and the price of putting them right were astronomical so in just under a year she was shipped out.

I'm now in a 12 year old TDI golf which I got in noverber lol it's killing me but the plan is is to keep this unbelievably efficient car and and invest in a real V8 that is going to fulfil my desire for a V8 engine.

The BMW never really done this as it felt so restricted and restrained. So here I am, I been saving all year and I'm about 8 weeks away from being a owner of TVR i really can't wait. :-) I'm a little scared I must admit as I have Heard all the horror stories but after reading through countless posts of owners on owners sites I don't think their as bad as what people who have never owned them say lol

my budget will be 15 to 17k so wish me luck and hope to be seeing you all Soon on some meets. Sorry for the super long life story.

Regards
Paul.

Sounds like yo were raised on 4* fumes biggrin

Given your passion, history and ambition I suspect your TVR adventure won't be meh...It'll either be love it forever or be crushingly disappointed (not necessarily the car's fault though). I sincerely hope it's the former rather than the latter. Griff 500 methinks although the budget might be a bit tight and you might have to "settle" for a a Chim.

Either way, the TVR crowd are a passionate bunch and you'll get loads of advice and offers of help.

Mate that sounds great. It would really be appreciated , I am going to start heading out and start looking at some within the next couple of weeks. I think I'll end up getting something from franhurst or aggar if that's the correct spelling. Im a little worried about buying Private Tbh.

Good luck with your purchase and an interesting insight into your car history. I share you passion for the EP3 Civic Type R, I had one of these a long time ago and absolutely loved it. I am very tempted to buy another one!

I don't think you will be disappointed with the Tiv.

Don't be worried About buying private, I bought my first Tuscan from a very well known tvr trader only for it to start smoking heavily 40 miles into my journey home. After Dom inspected it he confirmed the engine was screwed and Str8six also contacted me once they new I had it to inform me it was a death trap as the chassis was screwed that cannot be repaired without engine removal. On feeding this back to the dealer I had to threaten legal action before I got a refund, which he gave me a cheque for rather than bank transfer/refund into payment card. To round this all off, he tried to resell the car the day I returned it to a guy I was in contact with claiming it was new in.....

I ended up buying a near on perfect car privately for £1500 less and it had done less miles and was 2 years newer.

My advise is consider all......

Yeah will be good to tick the TVR of the list. Can't wait to get behind the wheel. :-) the EP3 was great, my friend just got one for track use, he has had 3 and is now driving a Aston but yet he has still gone back to a EP3 as a toy. Says a lot really about the car.

That's shocking. Lots of the main dealers now come with some kind of warranty so that can only be a good thing. If you got that Tuscan private you really would have been done for. Are the Tuscan engines known for trouble ?

Happy to discuss over PM, I was nieve and put my trust in a very well known dealer. Guess you live and learn.
