Lamborghini Concept S to be auctioned

The one functioning Gallardo speedster thing goes under the hammer in November. Estimate? Lots...

The Lamborghini Concept S is now more than a decade old, having first been shown at the Geneva show in 2005. Dramatic then and just as wild now, it previewed the Gallardo Spyder without simply being a production car on big wheels with silly mirrors. It's exactly what you would want from a concept car, in fact.

Sun always shines with a Concept S

Now the one operational Concept S is going to be sold. That Geneva car didn't have an engine but such was the response Lamborghini made a working version to show at the Concorso Italiano. Just to be absolutely sure that these people really did want the car. They did really want the car, and Lamborghini was going to build a Concept S limited run. Apparently though the problems with "exceedingly high cost and time-consuming production" (who'd have thought?!) put paid to the plan. So there's one in the Lamborghini museum and this car as the one-off production version. 180km accrued "during initial testing and... driving around concours show fields", the original "saute-vent" windscreens and more drama than a dozen Huracans.

It's the first car confirmed for RM's New York sale in November so for now there isn't an auction estimate. Got to be in the millions, hasn't it? More details as they're announced.

There is a bit of a 'Handley Page Victor but ugly' thing going on with the front end. Hideous thing.

I saw the static one when I visited the factory back in 2006. It looks stunning in the flesh.

I'm sure it will be "millions". Makes the Bravo at about $600k a real bargain. Now that *was* a dramatic car!

Is it not very unusual for a factory concept to be sold off, rather than a permanent fixture of their museum??

I like the idea, but it looks rather dated.
Probably comes with that rubbish E-gear too.

For a minute there I thought I'd gone a bit funny, not liking a Lambo whatsoever.

Best bit of the Gallardo chopped off, well done!

Happyjap? You wouldn't have anything to do with Dan's shiny helmet?
