Co-driver calamity: Time For Tea?

Co-driving is stressful enough with everything functioning, let alone when the intercom fails...

Onboard rally footage is often fairly nerve wracking, the combination of huge speed with narrow stages and blind bends seemingly perilous for online spectators. This particular drive is especially nervy for both the driver co-driver as they attempt a tight stage at blistering speeds without being able to hear each other...

The fun begins at 1:40, where a corner instruction is misheard and their Impreza nearly ends up in a field. Even before this the driver has been tetchy and continues to get more and more wound up following further near misses, some huge tank slappers and stalling on the tarmac section. So not all the co-driver's problem then... She doesn't fair much better, struggling to shout instructions over all the noise, eventually losing her place in the notes and meaning the corners are approached blind.

Knowing nobody was hurt means it's OK to chuckle, right? That it's clearly so awkward and stressful makes it more enjoyable. But there's some incredibly skillful driving too which you have to admire. Wonder how they'd get on in a new Subaru rally car?

Watch the vid here.

Was that a dog ar 4.30 after the jump?

There is no way someone drove faster than that doen there, what a loon

They need to show onboard footage like this on the highlights, purple would start to watch rallying again rather than no one being interested

The poor lass, she was really struggling. You can see how much he relied on the notes as his pace noticeably slackened when she wasn't instructing. Otherwise though, what a top drive. His commitment was absolute, especially along the tighter sections. Some excellent work in setting the car up for bends by having it yaw into oversteer to be facing the right way on the exit. A very talented driver indeed.

The guy is a multiple polish rally champion, including winning it three times on the trot. Almost a legend in Poland, if you will.

Figures. He doesn't need me to point out he's quite talented. hehe

That was an impressive drive under any circumstances.

A fantastic drive, the driver did well to keep the pace up despite the circumstances.
