Am currently in the market for a new Cayman, list is £39k with £6,333 of options (that I've already cut back on).

Spoken to three OPCs and none of them will give any discount or dealer contribution. One has lowered the APR (PCP deal) to 6.7% but that's about it.

I've not bought new before so unsure what's the best approach to get a few freebies in.

Before the finance police appear, the reason I'm going down the PCP route is because I'll be putting 54k on it in x3 years so want the flexibility of being able to walk away and hand the keys back. Or if it's worth more than the GFMV then buy it for £17k and make a profit. Car allowance covers the monthlies so all it's costing me is the 10k deposit plus servicing / tyres.

Any advice re negotiation would be grateful.

my only advice is go in with a figure that you want to pay in mind and stick to it - without exception all the OPC's I've dealt with have managed to do this
(i don't care if they discount the car or up the PX of mine!)

as for freebies - you mean in addition to the car ?

T shirt and mug are about all I've managed to get !

not complaining though !

"Or if it's worth more than the GFMV then buy it for £17k and make a profit"

how does that work lol what is the total payment for the car if you buy it ?

I would NOT ask for discount in price, but try and get 10% of free options, or say yes I will pay full price if you throw in PCM or some thing.
ALWAYS walk away if they say no. THEY WANT to do a deal that day, it is the start of the 1/4 though so BAD time to be buying from dealers atm.

can you wait till the last week in Sept, that's the time do go in hard ball.

It will be September when I'm looking to purchase anyway, TBH it may even be December.

Good shout re the 10% options / PCM proposal. I will try this approach.

In which case you are doomed! To get a deal, you need to be ready to buy. Going in and saying, I'm interested, will you give me some free st will fail. They are pros and we are not. So be ready to sign up to buy. Then decide what you want. Go in be specific and walk away if you don't get a good deal. Now I don't mean don't negotiate, but you have to be prepared to buy and you have to be prepared to walk. There's no guarantee you will get what you want, but you certainly won't get anything (if I may be so bold) with your current approach!

If you want a great deal, and your options are not too weird, see if they have any display models or pre-registered models that they need to shift by Friday night (1st August is a new quarter and they want bonuses for the last quarter).
By being flexible on options I got mine down from £47k sticker price to £37k almost 4 years ago to the day.

Have you tried a financing company/leasing company. They tend to be cheaper than the dealership's choice of financing. You can always look to get a quote and ask Porsche to beat it or just offer to buy "cash" and get a decent price whilst using the lease company.

Bought my 997.2 as a pre reg with 13 miles on it , equalled 23 % off list price.

As someone has already mentioned you've got to be in a position to do the deal then , also the ability to walk away unless you get what you want puts the salesman on the back foot.

Any OPC reading this wanting to unload a new or pre reg , not a demonstrator 991 pdk on a similar basis might want to get in touch.

Not sure if you're still looking, Gav, but I've been doing a fair bit of shopping around recently.

I've eventually gone for a used 981 cayman as it had a lot of extras on it and I got a good deal, but as part of the process I looked into getting a brand new one with a similar option cost to what you're after.

Three separate OPCs (wilmslow, cardiff and bolton) offered me the 6.7% APR on their PCP plus £1200-1500 off list price, so there's defiantly a deal to be done out there. I suspect that it may have been possible to go a bit further with the discounts as they were all just first offers from the garage in question. I'd had quotes from an independent finance company first which I was up front about as they were very competitive (6.5% APR). I think going in with that sort of quote at least gives a starting place to go from, if you let them set the pace you'll get daft quotes to start with.

I remember seeing an invoice from Newcastle Porsche for a 911 4S about 7 years ago for about £80k iirc , no discount given apart from a free baseball cap. Which was shown on the invoice with a part number but foc.

Unbelievable .

That looks a good deal you've got there. I love that colour/wheel combo. Enjoy it smile

Which OPC did you get it from in the end?

Ah brilliant...what spec did you get ?

Got mine from Dick Lovett Swindon, some of the best service I've ever received. Highly recommended.
