RE: Bond's new Aston DB10: Time For Tea?
Friday 11th September 2015
You'd like to think James Bond is a bit too classy to spend his spare time doing donuts on runways in his Aston Martin. But then again... Here we have a little teaser video of his new wheels, bespoke for Bond DB10.
Bond's new Aston DB10: Time For Tea?
Possibly a bit early for afternoon tea but when it's a sneak glimpse of 007's new Aston Martin...
It's a measure of how significant the 007 connection is for Aston Martin that this car is a standalone model in the range and yet will never be built as a full production model like the DB11 that follows it and will introduce the new, AMG-engined era. The DB10 does have an important job though, besides providing suitable transport for Daniel Craig in Spectre. That is to introduce us to the new styling language that (not before time, some might say) moves Aston Martin along from the DB9/Vantage era and into something more modern.
The DB10 itself, 10 of which will be built for the film, looks Vantage-like in size and proportion and quite evidently has three pedals and a manual shifter. Does this signal hope that future Aston Martins will come so-equipped or just that stunt drivers need the flexibility of a manual and the cars are based on 'old' Vantages? Probably the latter but it's good to get a glimpse of the car and digest the bold new look.
Watch the vid here.

Why bother going to all the expense of building something that looks production ready only to use it in a film rather than just make mule with a fancy looking body on top that they use for the ones that get destroyed?
The font on the number plate doesnt look quite right (legal) either but thats probably beside the point

This is a stupid question but it's Friday and I have a five-month-old child so I'm about as tired as I get, so apologies/mitigation in advance.
Are those wheels handed? i.e. do the spokes lean in the the same direction on both sides of the car and therefore if you swap right to left they'd be reversed?
If so, that is awesome. The alternative has always bothered me much, much more than it should. Bit less enthused with the 206 GTi pedals but the wheels win it (maybe).
Cheers, Jim

Shouldn't this have been the DB oh 7? Not the DB9 James Bond edition. Reckon it would sell a few more than the Kahn monstrosity and the DB9 007.
Front dreadful, side alright, rear excellent.
Front - ditch the top lip, add more detailing, inlets and proper lights. Nose creases should start from the Logo not each side of it.
Side - the Aston Name should be in the middle of the duct not at the top.
Just my humble opinion.

Styling seems very similar to the Alfa 2uettottanta concept to me, with some unsurprising F type also.
Am I crazy?
Still such a very pretty little thing. If I was a multi millionaire I would probably commission a custom one to be built frankly.Am I crazy?

The problem with the Aston styling of the last 20 years is that it has been so very, very good. That makes it oh so difficult to replace. I don't think they have succeeded. It doesn't seem to have the same level of style. It's not ugly and it does look quite good but it doesn't look elegant or refined. I do struggle to see how the new styling could be transposed across the range.
