Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe prices announced

C63 now available to order from £61K with the C63 S at £66K and Edition 1 at £77,000!

Up there with 0-60, top speed and horsepower, list price is one of those car numbers we can't help but discuss. See how excited the sub-£30K Focus RS made people, or how outrageous the £120K M4 GTS appears. Forget the 500hp and the 7:28 'ring lap, think how much Corvette and V10 M5 you could get for that!

Edition 1 is ... distinctive
Edition 1 is ... distinctive
Therefore the news that Mercedes has confirmed prices of the AMG-C63 Coupe should prompt a fair bit of discussion. After all, the old car proved hugely popular for Mercedes while the new saloon and estate have already begun the turbo C63 era very well. A two-door version of that car is very eagerly anticipated.

The big news? A C63 is more than an M4, as the saloon is more expensive than the M3. The Mercedes coupe is £61,160, compared to £57,055 for the BMW. The AMG of course counters M with more power and a standard automatic 'box; the vast majority of M3s and M4s are specced with the £2,645 M DCT dual-clutch gearbox.

As with the saloon and estate, a 510hp C63 S will be available in coupe guise too. It will cost £66,910. And for even more AMG than that, there's an AMG-C63 S Edition 1. Like the A45 Ed 1 and similar, it features a great many trinkets on top of the base package to make it more, well, overt. So there's 'diamond-stitched nappa leather upholstery with contrast yellow stitching', many AMG decals, much carbon fibre and new wheels. And if that's simply not enough, try the Edition 1 'motorsport package', adding yellow AMG decals (!), 'designo selenite grey magno paint', AMG ceramic composite brakes and another new design of wheels for £3,000. That's an £80,000 C63 then...

For some reference, the Lexus RC F is from £60,000 and an Audi RS5 is, er, £60,000. For a slightly different approach to a coupe at this price point, an F-Type V6 S manual is, well, guess. Yep, £60,260. First drive and verdict to follow soon. Oh, and the C200 starts at £30K.

Have to love marketing departments:
'designo selenite grey magno paint'... i.e the car is grey.

Aside from a slightly awkward roofline - a good looking machine.

But please can I see a picture of one without the 'lost my hubcaps' black wheels, or 'look at my van' privacy glass!

The £60 - £80k Sports car market has never been this busy or competitive!!

Porsche
Lotus
Jaguar
BMW
Mercedes
Audi
Aston
Morgan
Chevrolet - Corvette

Evora 400 for me is the class act, available with manual gearbox and the best looker, if occasional rear seats are required.
This Mercedes looks to be the best of zee German offerings.

Please tell us all - which Renault Laguna coupe performs as well as the AMG? Take as long as you need, we'll all wait.

At last, someone else has spotted the £29.95 Kazam 8" tablet. Why-o-why do manufacturers not fit an I-Pad size holder/charger, so the new owner can buy a quality tablet with a superb quality screen and download their choice of nav/car integration/TV et al? Total cost - £3/400 instead of the thousands these luggardly OEM units cost.

I was about to say the same thing. the least thing they could have done was integrate it into the dash instead of slapping ontop of the dash.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I think the C class Saloon & Coupe are a pair of Fuggly's, save for the Chuff of the Coupe, which just about gets a pass! (Even though it does look like an Insignia)

The C63 AMG is one of my dream cars ( without getting to the super/hypercars ). They usually look so gorgeous to these eyes. This one not so much though frown

yes

Horrible looking thing. Rear end from a poverty spec Insignia and the front end is just a horrible melted mess.

I drive a modern Mercedes - it's "OK".

Would sticking a huge engine in it and increasing the price by £25k turn it into a great car? I very much doubt it.

Wow...casual racism finding its way back on to the forums....
I am Asian and i will be purchasing mine in the brilliant blue with the titanium grey wheels...is that shocking for you?

In other news, non racism related, the Merc model configurator is suggesting that this comes with the sports exhaust as standard unlike the saloon and estate.

I'd be very surprised if more than a few people hadn't reported that post for offensive content. Really not called for.
