Wales Rally GB - Blog

The boys are across the finish line, and damn well they did too!

PH is following the fortunes of Tony Jardine and co-driver Gordon Noble in this year's Wales Rally GB, from build-up and preparation to the event itself. Expect regular updates from the team and hopefully the odd bit of on-board too. Latest update below - for archived previous instalments click here.

If you have seen anything of Wales Rally GB over this weekend, whether live or on TV, you will know how abysmal the weather conditions have been. Even by the standards of this rally, the howling winds and driving rain were horrendous. Those PH staff members experiencing it for the first time will vouch for the conditions too...

Well done chaps!
Well done chaps!
So for the PH-supported team of Tony Jardine and Gordon Noble to finish fourth in Group N is a fantastic achievement. That their Mitsubishi Evo developed an exhaust manifold problem - the anti-lag was turned off to protect it - makes the result all the more impressive. In the overall classification, they were 31st out of 58 finishers.

Finishing Saturday in 37th place, the guys mad up six positions in the final four stages in Wales. Co-driver Gordon Noble said of those: "This whole rally has been hugely difficult and today was no different." Sunday also included Great Orme, the only tarmac stage on Wales Rally GB. Not that it was by any means easy today, the gale force winds so severe that spectators were banned from the stage!

Completing his 22nd Wales Rally GB means Tony Jardine now ranks as one of the event's most experienced drivers, now just four finishes behind Stig Blomqvist. He commented: "I've learned to be a better driver with him (Noble), I'll always be grateful to Wales Rally GB and to Gordon for what I've been able to accomplish here."

So well done gents, big congratulations from PH to you and your team. Top work all round!

Camera placement was a bit compromised by a need to show footwork I supppose, it would've been nice to see where they were going though. A cracking pair of videos to start things off with though!

Even with the terrible weather, it's been another brilliant weekend. The sunday service was brill as well, you kept the special guests quiet though... Very well suited however.

Here's the start of the countdown to next year biggrin

Nothing much to contribute other than I drove past the car on it's trailer on the way into and again on the way back out of Manchester on Thursday morning and it looks cool! smile
