It was all a lot easier 40+ years ago.

I used to drive regularly from Nottingham to Cambridge, and still did until recently. Nottingham, A606 through Melton, Oakham, A1, A14.
Owned a variety of cars over the years, several over 250 bhp, including the TVR.

My fastest time? 1972, in a standard Mini 850 one Sunday evening. Cannot get within 10 minutes of that time these days, even with over 300 bhp at my disposal.

It's why I do track days.

Legend has it that the camera was mounted on a Merc 6.9 rather than a Ferrari smile

Absolutely and well worth watching "The Making of", especially the part about the walkie talkies...

It's one reason why I've done everything I can to make my Cerb quieter, I really don't want to sound like I'm speeding...

You only need one glance to see that a Cerbera is doing more than 70 without the keys in the ignition..... lick

If anyone tried to do it nowadays they'd be quite thick, frankly. Anyone who did it and was stupid enough to video it and upload it to the internet would be beyond my powers of describing stupidity.

Crikey - one junction 9 to 10 takes about 40 minutes in rush hour 1 these days. 9 through to 13 probably 1hour 20

Rush hour number 2,3,4 and 5 all variations on the above.

Rush hour 3 is usually blue rinsers going off to wisely gardens in the hope of avoiding 1 and 2 and probably 4 & 5 in reverse.

The most wretched stretch of tarmac in Europe - probably the world, these days

Just wait outside QBee's early on a Sunday morning for him to emerge.
If you can keep up, you'll have made your own smile

Very kind, Bill, but I tend to treat the public road with respect and save my antics for track days, as videoed from this remarkably quick 2.5 turbo MX5

That is quite quick, and certainly seems to be somewhat superior in braking and cornering.
But in all fairness, when the straights come along, you leave him for dead pretty quickly (as indeed one should expect).
But hey, it was another great photo op for you, and a fun one!

No disrespect to BarnFind (I can understand your interest) but;
To be honest, regarding the original post/video, I found it terrifying and frankly quite disgusting that anyone would drive so recklessly on public roads. In fact I got quite bored and closed it.
I was no angel in my youth, and probably did my growing up (such as it is) far too late in life, but that displayed a truly appalling disregard for the lives of others.
I realise it was done some considerable time ago, and our general attitudes towards that sort of thing have changed considerably, but even in my teens I think I would have been quite horrified (though it may well have taken some time to sink in).

Its not legend, its true! They found it was the only car both fast and soft enough for the job. The sound was later dubbed over. The 'making of' is very interesting to watch.

By the way, the vid was used for the music video of 'Open Your Eyes' by Snow Patrol. Watching it from start to finish, it certainly works very well with the music and the footage has been tweaked so you can see more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk1Q9y6VVy0

OP, although nothing to do with TVRs, the only modern day car-filming marvel I can suggest is the selection of short vids made by Tax The Rich 100 https://www.youtube.com/user/TaxTheRich100/videos ... truly worthy of a few minutes of anyones time, and doesn't take place on public roads.
