However I signed an agreement with TNE giving hem authority to sell the bike on my behalf
Out of curiosity, what does that agreement state, that they WILL give you the proceeds minus fees, or that "they can sell the bike"

Does allowing someone to sell your bike preclude you from being protected should the person selling withhold the money? Sorry I know I am asking more than helping, but I'm sure this could help someone else in the future etc

Is it another case of the police calling it a "civil matter" or is it indeed theft? Surely as soon as the bike is sold the money should be transferred?

Yeah, but not to keep the cash.

I assume you have been to see a solicitor?
