Hi,

With the recent frost, a handy feature is a heated front windscreen!
Does anyone know which new automatic cars now come with as standard/factory option for a heated front windscreen?

From what I gather we have:-

- Most Fords
- Most Land Rovers/Range Rovers
- Most Jaguars
- VW Golf Mk7
- BMW Mini Mk3
- Nissan Qashqai
- Vauxhall Corsa?
- Vauxhall Astra?

Any others?

I specified "Winter Pack" on my 14 plate Octavia vRS TDi when I bought it from new but I believe you can only get it on the Diesel version these days (used to be both Petrol and Diesel), not sure how much more of the Skoda range has it, or even if it extends to all the VAG brands.

I hope they've improved in the past decade. Our ten year old Fiesta has a heated screen but in that time it has only done 40,000 miles so is relatively little used however there are a number of gaps in the working filaments in the screen - irritating at best, very poor quality/reliability at worst.

I think it ran out a few years ago, hence it appearing on more vehicles.

Aston Martin have them. It's a marvellous thing, I must say.

The VW group system is not the same as fords, it uses a film between the screen sheets which warms up to demist , however I don't think it is too good as defrosting

My wife's 57 plate KA has ONE single element working! It's only done 56000 miles too.

Heated screens are great.

Mine had a few elements dying which didn't bother me as they were on the passenger side.

A lorry chucked a small rock up that cracked the screen down the middle so it got replaced.

If you are getting a heated screen replaced, ask for the maker of your cars screens, not a cheaper version.

I have a feeling that's what's going to happen to ours sometime soon...

When it comes to deicing vehicles, the motor industry remained in the dark ages for too long ....

A few years back, I looked at buying a Saab 9-3 TiD, and I was shocked to find that very few had an Aux Heater .... do people enjoy scraping ice?

My Skoda Yeti has one as an option. It seems pretty resilient. I had a small stone chip in it 14 days ago. But all elements are still working well. I think the Mokka does not have one even as an option.

My 2014 Skoda Superb (purchased @ 1 year old) came with winter pack, heated screen & front seats. Salesman didn't know it had it, wasn't advertised !
The screen doesn't work as fast as an old Ford Focus's which I used to own.
Good enough though ..
