Porsche 911 (991.II) Turbo S: POTW

The latest generation of that iconic poster car, preened and prepped for your desktop wallpaper

Hands up who had a 911 Turbo on their bedroom wall? Yes it's never been the most exotic supercar, but its combination of tremendous speed, slight fear factor and (usually) big rear spoiler have made it great poster fodder.

This week we've driven the latest generation, which is of course yet faster still. Furthermore, beyond the cosmetic and mechanical updates already discussed, new colours have been introduced to the 911 Turbo colour palette: Lava Orange, as featured in the drive story and borrowed from the GT3 RS, plus Miami Blue seen here.

It's a stunning colour, reminiscent of Riviera Blue and a real visual treat either gleaming in the sunshine or a little grimy in the rain. Where it was on a special order options list previously, it can now be specced (at extra cost) as part of the normal ordering process. There is no price yet, but it could well be worth the premium...

So it seemed the perfect colour for a Pic of the Week subject. A gloomy sky at Kyalami seems less of a problem with this around!

According the the Porsche Configurator, Miami Blue, Lava Orange & Carmine Red are all an £1,805 option on the 991 Gen II Turbo & Turbo S.

I'm waiting to see if Porsche offer Voodoo Blue as an option on the Turbo S as that should look stunning.

Voodoo blue is a paint to sample colour. I ordered it for my GT3 and i guess people liked it because it's all the rage now. But at the time I could find only one picture which in no way showed how the colour looks in real life but I wore my steel attribute and confirmed the order.

It's not IMHO a colour Porsche will be offering as main any time soon. But you can order it PTS which is a no brainer on GT cars but much less so with mainstream cars. Would never order a vanilla 911 in Voodoo nor riviera. Just doesn't work.
