400SE Cooling fan?
Discussion
Hi, I've removed my radiator to be recored. What a pain that was! I know from the forum that removing the radiator is generally a pain, but I think it was made worse in my case by someone fitting a Ford cooling fan in place of the original. It is very deep (about 5-6 inches front to back) so there was no space to remove it. I had to undo the fan from the yellow cowling, then the cowling from the black radiator cowling, Then the black cowling from the radiator, the radiator from the mountings and the mountings from the body. With all those undone I could just about wriggle the radiator out under the car. What a nightmare. That was with a lot of pushing and pulling, not caring too much if the radiator got damaged since I was having it recored. The problem is that I don't think I can put it all back together without damaging the new radiator. So, I think the answer is to replace the Ford fan with a slimmer fan which will go in after the radiator. Which fans have any of you fitted to your wedges that work well? TIA

When my original fan failed (motor was tight to turn and blowing fuse) I got a replacement through TVR specialist in Hexham.
IIRC The original type fan was no longer available, and replacement was a chimaera unit (maybe modified)
The replacement fan was slimmer with many more blades than the original. The shroud and fan was one unit, rather than the "built up" original arrangement.
