BMW M3 and M4 GTS: Pic Of The Week

The M-car specials meet at a moody Castle Combe

An incredibly high price, very limited numbers, a strange rear wing and dubious aesthetics; yes, we have been here before with the BMW M3.

But with the opportunity there to get the M4 GTS together with its extremely orange predecessor, it wasn't going to be passed up. In the pit lane against the overbearingly butch F32, the old E92 V8 looked almost subtle despite the paint. Really. Subtle certainly isn't the word to describe the M3 GTS's noise though...

Sadly this wasn't a full track shootout extravaganza, but there will be a follow up story soon to compare V8 with straight six. For now here's 950hp of M3 (and M4) for your desktop wallpaper!

In this pic I think the M3 looks much more purposeful.

Hmmm...often these days a newer model makes the former look instantly dated. With the E92 though, that's not the case.

The M3 does make the M4 look a little bit too fussy with it's detailing, great pic though.

Great driving. Taking a few liberties with his gear changes but the M3 seems to be forviging. Thanks for the link!

That's what I thought, it sounds like a performance car should. None of this bullst of 'sounds good for a diesel' or fake engine sound through the stereo. Just an extremely angry V8 fueled with the proper stuff.

Post of the day. Pure sound. The E92 GTS is hugely underrated.

Possibly...it's also hugely expensive though so a nice noise should be a given I think.

Once you add up development and tooling costs I doubt there is much profit to be had from the GTS.

Most ordinary cars have very little profit on the sale of the car itself - the money is made in servicing, finance and options.
