After a bit of advice chaps.

I recently picked up a V8V with the remainder of the AM warranty. Shortly after, it developed a 'noise' which was diagnosed by my local dealer as part of the handbrake system that needed replacing - this is not related to pads or disks.

I was advised at the time the time that it was not covered by a warranty and would be rather a lot of money to fix. I didn't really have any option but to suck it up and get it sorted.

I've subsequently had another issue, which has required a warranty claim and it's taken quite a long time to find the transferred warranty details and level of cover.

Looking through the policy, it does not specifically exclude the HB issue, although the dealer maintains that it's a 'wear & tear' item (I've asked them to look at this retrospectively).

The thing at the back of my mind is that I was advised that it wasn't covered, before the warranty status was established.

I appreciate that warranties can have some grey areas, however it looks like as this particular issue is not excluded, it should be included.

Is there a way of checking what would or would not be covered without consulting the dealer network?

Cheers

Ed

If the dealer says the defective item/s is not covered but the warranty booklet says otherwise then I would take this matter up with the dealer first and get them to fix the problem they created by not putting the repair through as a warranty claim.

Specifically what was the mechanical issue Ed? What policy and level of cover do you have?

Specifically, a seized handbrake cable and the premium level cover.

My policy excludes all cables. Lucky the Rapide has a fly by wire handbrake then rolleyes All these policies have more clauses than Lapland at Xmas - seriously thinking of chucking £2k pa in a high interest account when this one expires...
