Hi guys
In a dilemma had an offer on my Caterham SLR (not trying to sell so easy money) which has basically given free motoring for a year, tempted to take it but replace it with what ? Have always been an A/cooled fan but think this budget well off mark!

Basically I was after something could drive into say Europe and do occasional track day throughout the year and with abit of poke and excitement. My caterham is 210bhp so can't think of anything that would be that exciting for say a budget of 25k. Was thinking Lotus exige/Elise's but a Porsche man at heart.!! Was think 996 4s but big and heavy!!

I have my early GT3 which i cherish and basically just use for decent days out!!
Thanks, perhaps just keep the Caterham!

1st world problems aye

Thoughts ? Can guess my responses smilesmile

Your problem is that both offer very different experiences. I started racing in Caterhams and have a very soft spot for them but personally, nothing rewards a driver like a 911. I'd look at a nice 996 and take some weight out of it - see current thread re carreralightweight's car. 964's are lovely and have a modern platform which is easily tunable to create something fantastic but base cars are not cheap.

I used to have a Mk1 Elise with Honda VTEC engine, your budget very easily covers one of those, possibly even a supercharged version. Very quick car, different to both a 911 and Caterham to drive (I've had both) and a guaranteed grin every time the engine hits 8,000!

Hi guys
Cheers for all the responses, I've found myself looking at 964s, 993s and Cayman Rs. As per normal notice budget kinda leaping abit. Seems quickly scanning the adds 964s seem to be more expensive than 993s. I loved my old 993 and have a soft spot for them, so perhaps another of them, not tiptronic though as found gearbox very dull! Perhaps try Cayman R. Decisions decisions, what a nice problem. Anyone thinking of getting out of anything interesting ??

Cheers all, have a good weekend...
