I use Carcoons & only Carcoons. I've always found the quality superb. I have around 40 Carcoons now & never had an issue with them.

Cair-o-Port here, but I'm sure they're all fine.

Make sure you get the right size though: not just length and width of car / garage floor but also taking into account the arc of the garage door mechanism if you have a lifting one. When I was looking, the Cair-o-port had slightly angled-in uprights at the end to facilitate this, whereas the others didn't, so that made my mind up. If that's not an issue for you then take your pick.

I used a cartoon for few years to store a Diablo and it did the job very well, it could be sold soon if this is the size you need.

Ive been using car coon and they are great, I have 2 extra so I could sell one also. It's in good condition and I'm based in south west London if this helps.

Andy - If you've not sold it I may be interested for my Diablo.

What's it like heightwise when you open the Diablo doors?

Is yours the Med or Large size?, Carcoon website says medium size is required but Diablo rear is pretty wide so unless they're sized pretty generously I'd have thought a Large size would be needed(?)

I'm thinking of a Carcoon, Air chamber or Cair-o-port to use as a chamber in which intermittently to run a dehumidifier, as required. Can anybody comment on how easy it is for each of them to be made reasonably airtight? I'm also a bit tight for space and wonder if the frame of any on them can be shrunk/chopped by a few centimetres?

I've recently bought a couple of air-chambers and a pair of humidity sensors/switches.

The concept of airflow across the car is fine so long as the air that you're pumping in isn't saturated with moisture.

If it is then this switch will simply turn the fan off, if you wanted to you could then use it to switch on a dehumidifier or heater.

mastrati - I have a framed Carcoon for my Caterham. Their smallest size was still too big for my needs. I phoned them up and they happily custom built one to my specific measurements for a small extra fee, shortening both the length and width. Did have to wait a couple of months mind. Normally they can deliver off the shelf sizes in a few days.

One thing to be aware of is the cross brace at the front. It isn't flush with the outer bubble so eats into the overall internal space. I hadn't appreciated this and was flippin' lucky that due to the shape of a Caterham, the nose slotted nicely between the X tubes, otherwise, the kids would have a very nice expensive play tent!!
See snaps below. I could measure that gap for you, but don't know if it will vary on size.

With regards to how air tight they are, obviously, they aren't fully air tight as the fan needs to draw the air in, so unless you blocked those apertures up somehow you will get an escape. I can't recall how quickly it deflates if you switch the fan off as I think each time I have done that I have unzipped the rear entry panel at the same time. I can check for you if you like.

You can sort of see the nose and wheels go in and around the cross brace.

I have had a carcoon for several years and think it is a great product but recently I have found their aftersales support poor. It took two whole months for them to deliver a new set of filters in spite of me chasing several times by phone and email. No explanation for the delay was given.

I change them annually as I keep a Ferrari 599 in it and want the Carcoon to work as well as it can.
