Anybody done it ?
Any problems doing so ?
Anyone know where a pair of spare sills might be available cheaply ?

Would door seals on a 16,000 mile car need to be replaced at same time ?

I look fwd to your advices....

Thank you.

For me? I'd leave it with V8 sills, since it's a V8.

This is something someone in my country (US) would do...

Axarunner - does that imply one might do that in the U.S but not in G.B ?

The post model year 2012.25 look for earlier cars, is of course entirely personal choice.

Perhaps remember which version of the Jaguar E-type is now the most admired.
The original one, before any bodywork changes.

And which one is the most valuable....

I just think if you want it to look like a V12, buy a V12? If you can't afford a V12, then it's a bit embarrassing to try to pretend? Be happy with what you can afford, aspire to what you can't and work hard until you can.

Very philosophical, thank you.
T.Butcher of Trinity Engineering Ltd warned me I might catch my high heels on the V12 sills so I will drop that idea after all.

V12 Sills fit on the V8 Vantage and yes you would be wise to budget for new door seals.
Also note that the V12 sills are not exclusive to the V12 Vantage since they are standard factory fitted equipment on the V8 Vantage S Coupe and Roadster.

I have fitted the N400 sills on my Roadster but might replace these next summer with the V12 sills

The V12 Vantage side sills are used on the V8 Vantage GT as well.

Not that a Brit wouldn't do it, but I've noticed that Americans are far more likely to mix-and-match components from the various models and trims. Brits tend to have more "purists" than we have. Obviously a generalization, but that's the impression I've gotten.

Like this guy... Can't imagine the tantrum you'd throw if you knew I was going to put a GT12 hood on my 4.3L V8V wink

It's obvious the consensus appears to be that making a V8 pretend to be a V12 is not popular, but I don't think thats the idea here.

They should be more or less a straight swap.
eBay, astonbits?
Not unless they leak right now.

Great stuff - thank you all.
It's the Mrs' car and it's a keeper (her too probably ;-) and as (only)380bhp scares her enough already, Lordy knows what she'd think of a V12 under there !

So purely for aesthetics reasons and now having seen some "before & after" pix and reading someone commenting; "it takes years off the car" I think we will do this now.

Now just need to track down some V12V sills!

Good for you OP. As for comments about not being able to afford a V12, and criticism about making yours look like one, followed by some helpful career advice, well such pretentious and snobbish remarks belong in the dark ages. It's your (in fact your wife's) car and you can do exactly as you please. Furthermore, I don't recall you asking for opinions on whether it was acceptable or not, just whether it was achievable. I'm sure the car will look great. Pictures when it's done please!

Glad to help. There is one added advantage, there will be a little less gravel rash on the sills and rear arches.

Thank you too Lord Brett.

Having seen pics of your Gulf Oil inspired V8VR, you are clearly a student of aesthetics too.
We saw your car at Burghley but unfortunately not at LeMans Classic.

I was convinced you were Jeremy Levenson but apparently, you are not! LOL.

Completely agree, nothing wrong with putting on different panels on your car if you think it will improve the look, I remember reading a post on here (about a church) a forum member who has a DB9 with DBS panels getting alot of abuse.
I would expect this from AMOC forum but not this one.
This should be encouraged as there's nothing wrong with it, when selling I know the dealers like completely unmodified cars but not everyone wants to buy a completely original AM.
