Lamborghini Centenario Roadster at Monterey

Two million euros, 20 cars, all sold out - what did you expect?

Any concerns that Lamborghini under Stefano Domenicali may lose some of its silliness have been dismissed at Pebble Beach with the reveal of the Centenario Roadster. Just in case the coupe wasn't wild enough, right?

Imagine what you could lose in that diffuser
Imagine what you could lose in that diffuser
The key changes over the hardtop are another 50kg (so now 1,570kg dry), another 250,000 euros and a new paint colour also - 'Argento Centenario', unique to the Roadster. As far as design changes go, Lamborghini says "Each component is stylistically relevant and actively participates in the improvement of performance in terms of drag, downforce and engine cooling." So to compensate for the missing roof, there's a new front windscreen and a channel behind the headrests to ensure the least turbulence possible for the two passengers; the latter apparently benefits rear downforce as well, but of course the extendable rear wing remains.

Similarly much of the other distinguishing features from the coupe have made it to the Roadster, including the outrageous rear diffuser and the all carbon body. Also like the hardtop Centenario, this car features the same 770hp V12 and the new four-wheel steering as well.

Unsurprisingly, despite a two million euro price, every single Centenario Roadster is sold already. Still, at least all customers can specify any colour they wish through the Ad Personam personalisation program; if you like it, this car features Terra di California Alcantara with Bianco Polar leather. As for the tangible stuff to take from the Centenario, the updated interior (there's even Apple CarPlay now) seems a certainty for an Aventador facelift, along with the four-wheel steering. Or could it really preview a future design direction? Let's wait and see!

Realy?!
All I see is a disjointed ugly pile of crap.
When did Lambo start being all about outlandish bonkers high impact style?
Countach right?
Now look at the Countach when it was released. Pretty damn pure.
Then check out the Murcie....modern interpretation done well (if a smidge bland)
Look at the 'holy trinity'..smooth subtle, classy but no less dramatic
Now look at this..

It's truly shocking...in a very, very cheap and bad way.

A lambo should look like a spaceship, or they're not trying imho.
I don't care if it's smooth, & beautiful like the Saturn V or has dirty great knobbly bits like Skylab, but it must look like it's from another planet.

Therefore job jobbed smile

Agreed, if a lambo doesnt look like it came from outer space and collided with a fighter jet on the way down, someone didnt do their job..

The Gallardo and Huracan for instance look rather tame for being a lambo imho, not that far off from just getting the Audi model.

wow.
I think they should look stylish yet game-changing. Given they have to allow a human to pilot them, and at least currently require glass to see out of, and wheels to allow them to move, there has never been a Lambo that looks like it's come from another planet.

Simply gouging angular holes and adding angular wings does not a spaceship make.

Look at Nebula
Agera
LaF
P1

All dramatic yet stylish.

Didn't the Countach come straight after the Muira?
A paradigm shift in how a car should look.

This thing is a Huratador that's been cut and added to by someone who has no clue.

A couple of vents and pure design...gorgeous
Then add some tat and cut some more holes, when imagination escapes you.

A couple of vents and purity return..

Now add some tat and tada!! Centenario... hurl

It's ok but I don't see anywhere near 2 million Euros worth there.

I like the way it looks apart from it apart from it's arse, the wing is obviously there for a purpose but it looks crap IMO.

The rest is smart, a bit OTT, but that's no bad thing.

I used to be their biggest fan as a kid. Now I find them horrible. Huracan, Aventador SV and this all look wrong. The last Lambo that I like is the Gallardo Performante. Everything else looks chav. Worse thing for Lambo is that the competition has moved on leaps and bounds in the driving department.

Lambos are no longer for the serious drivers/petrolheads but more for the chavvy millionaires/footballers?

Its got to the point where I would be embarrassed rocking up in an Aventador SV somewhere. These machines have absolutely no class.

exactly, trading on name, history, and massive in-yer-face shock tactics along with hug premiums....but not, critically, style and performance

They were created to be an answer to Ferrari, not a "look at my wad!" bauble.

I am not a fan of the styling of the centenario, no am I a fan of the aventador sv, as both cars look over styled, and I prefer a standard aventador roadster.
I like the murcri lp 640 sv

Random car company makes that and everyone would be saying what a heap of turd.

And even with the name, many still are.

I'm not entirely sold on the Centenarios or a big advocate of 'ring lap times, but getting an SV round the 'ring in less than 7 minutes is still pretty serious.

If they can keep finding those rich enough to buy these and keep the brand producing V12s that can stick it to the hybrid boys, I'm all for it.

They will probably do what they did with the Reventon. Make an outlandish very high priced limited run car, then make an almost identical car their next production car (Aventedor) for less than 1/3rd of the price of the limited car.

That'll be the pretty much the new model minus a wing or two.
