Shedden vs McGuinness: Time For Tea?

Honda racing stars swap machines, but who does the better job?

Our recent feature detailing the fascinating job swap for BTCC champion Gordon Shedden and fellow Honda star and TT legend John McGuinness threw some fresh fuel on the 'car versus bike' debate. Filmed at the same time and published by Dunlop (sponsor for both) this video sheds a little more light on the day and how Shedden and McGuinness adapted to each other's machines.

Without wishing to diminish McGuinness's efforts he probably had the slightly easier job here, though his enthusiasm to get stuck into the data to find out where he was losing time compared with Shedden goes to show how even at a friendly fixture the competitive instinct is always there. For Shedden there was going to be nowhere to hide riding McGuinness's Fireblade around the same track. But it's clear from the video is he's clearly not a complete rookie on two wheels. Indeed, out of their regular comfort zones or not both Shedden and McGuinness look quickly up to pace and sincere in their respect for each other's jobs. That both are top blokes helps enliven what was an already compelling head to head.

Fascinating stuff and credit to all involved for making it happen.
