Does anyone know anything or has got any info on the black car being sold by W Specialist Cars?
I''ve been looking for an Ultima for the past couple of months with a budget of between 35 & 40k, not to bothered abt the colour but needs to have air con with a a power output of around 350 to 400 bhp. Any one know of anything?

The car looks OK in the pictures.

The LT5 engine is the least liked unit but you only want the power it has got! If you decide you want more later you will need a different motor.

The best route to take will be to go and see a few. The more you see the easier the decision will become.
Look at the build quality rather than the 'big name glossy bits'.

Is that the 2002 car? 14 years old and the best part of 40k probably cost only a little more then to build, depreciation proof motoring!!! Brakes look poor and shocks basic, rear spoiler looks off engine bay looks tired and in need of clean up. This is the thing if you have 40k for one, id try and find a bit more for a later better spec build Or drive a real hard deal on this one and fit some nice new bits

Aircon retrofit is apparently a real ballache! A couple have done it, so I'm sure they can share their experience.

Retrofit air con? Big hole out of the dash!! Cant imagine how youd do it with screen still in. I guess you might get that done around £2.5-3k so you're up to 40k already Looks a well constructed car, some one must know it on here I would suspect. Is a new self build not an option?

I had a ZZ4 in my Ultima Sport - was good enough to put a smile on my face every time I took it out.
Very easy to maintain and parts are cheap.
Plenty of articles on the web like this one to give you more insight:

I have a ZZ4 HO in my GTR. It has run faultlessly with minimal maintenance for 16 years. It was the factory engine of choice when I started building my car in 1998. Performance is more than adequate for "everyday motoring".

Air Con can be retro fitted. It requires much laying on your back in the footwell! Keith Lake (aka "ditto") retro fitted a Car Builder Solution kit to his GTR before he sold it (Air Con is definitely required in a GTR!)
