I recently bought a used Porsche from Philip Raby in West Sussex. It had been advertised here on PistonHeads.
I live in Glasgow so I was, perhaps understandably, a touch nervous about what might happen if anything went wrong with my purchase. Although it`s not exactly the longest journey in the world, being several hundred miles away from the seller could be a major problem if push came to shove! No pun intended.

As it turned out when I got back home the engine check light came on and the car showed signs of a very random tick-over. I honestly feared the worst and was very glum about my new car to say the very least.

However I needn`t have worried at all. After a call to Phil Raby himself I was 100% reassured. He was immediately on the case and promised me he would make certain the car was put right and that he wouldn`t be content until I was fully happy with my car.

Long story short, Phil had my car fixed without delay or question. It is so rare to meet or deal with someone who is completely genuine, particularly in the Motor Trade.

I felt it was only right and fair to give him a mention here on PistonHeads and also to publicly commend and thank him for not only being a shining example to other businesses but also to maybe return the favour by bringing him to the attention of any others here who might be searching for their perfect Porsche.

I've no connection & have never met/spoken to him, but I've only heard good things about Phil Raby. Good old fashioned values. It does pay off, as I'm in the market for a car now and always check out his site first

I bought a 996 c4s from Phil a few years ago,

I kept it for three years and got him to sell it for me, he was the editor for total 911 magazine (I think) at the time, very knowledgeable on these cars and very easy to deal with.

The check light was a result of failing 200 cell cats and a slow 02 sensor

Yes new 200 Cats and sensors, no debates or if`s and buts or maybes. Phil was as good as his word in every detail.
The car is perfect now, just put my own plates on today and upgraded all the bulbs to led`s and replaced the main beam and fog to the latest Philips +150%. New Bosch wipers front and rear. Full set of overmats including for the front luggage area. Serviced the K&N and treated it to a new Drycharger cover. Replaced the bonnet and boot gas struts. Clayed and a fresh coat of Swissvax `Best of Show` Feeling very, very pleased...... but also a bit tired!!!! But in a good way.
