VW Polo WRC: Pic Of The Week

A week is a long time in rallying...

So that's it then. After four years, four drivers' titles, four manufacturers' titles and a campaign not far off total domination, VW is out of the WRC. Just like that. The 2017 car was in development but will not see the light of day.

Furthermore, while we may not look on this era of rallying as one of the sport's best, to succeed so comprehensively remains a laudable achievement. Remember VW has been competing against Citroen during this time, a team that knows a thing or two about winning rally championships. Hyundai too have thrown a lot at their WRC team, yet only managed to defeat the Polos on the odd occasion.

So while Volkswagen's departure from top flight rallying might not be mourned like that of Subaru, Mitsubishi or Lancia, it undoubtedly deserves some credit. This week's wallpaper comes from our very own Ben Lowden, who took this great pic of Jari-Matti Latvala at the Sweetlamb water splash last Friday. And, well, we thought it looked pretty good.
