RE: TT RS vs 718 Cayman S vs F-Type S: POTW
Friday 11th November 2016
We've all just about warmed up from the shoot earlier in the week for these three cars; yes, it was damned cold at our airfield location but special credit is due to snapper Tim Brown, who dangled himself out the back of his Nissan Cube to bag this shot as we all snuggled down into our seats and warmed up.
TT RS vs 718 Cayman S vs F-Type S: POTW
Three very different ways to spend your £60K
Inspiration to gather these three together comes as much from their differences as it is a similarity in their 'as tested' prices. Full review to follow shortly but, basically, we've got 400hp and four-wheel drive from the new Audi TT RS, 350hp and rear-wheel drive from the mid-engined 718 Cayman S and 380hp and (very) rear-wheel drive from our new PH Fleet Jaguar F-Type S Coupe.
Plenty more to come from this, but for now decorate your desktop with our contenders and await the test verdict (with video) in due course...

It'll be an interesting comparison on the provision that no attempt is made to pick a "winner". The three cars are so different that trying to decide which one is "best" would be ludicrous, IMO.
Nice picture, either way.
That won't matter... Plenty of PHers will declare, because Quattro, the numbers and can be chipped to silly hp, the RS the winner Nice picture, either way.
There choice and which ever floats your boat, that's the winner.

I suspect more will declare the Porsche a winner because it's a Porsche.
Or because it happens to be a driver's car compared to the others ?ETA: Actually to be fair I haven't driven the 718 either, just the pre-facelift 981.

I'd have the Audi out of these three, no question. You can have fun in any of them, so the choice comes down to image and what they are like to live with. The Audi screams quality while the 4-pot Porsche and look-at-me Jag do nothing for me, but it's just personal preference.
Mind you, I'd have a M2 plus a fast bike over all of them.
i would put my 60k in a NA 6 speed carrera sMind you, I'd have a M2 plus a fast bike over all of them.
Yes, it's a shame Lotus haven't really got a "road" car to play at the £60k price point, as Evora continues it's attempt to sell against base 911.
Anyway - the pic' at the top of the thread is clearly faked. There's not a chance in a million of the F-type or 718 driver having to look at the back of that Audi thing!

Haven't driven any of them, and very unlikely to. But, the Audi to me says "Clueless, doesn't like driving" the Porsche says "We could give it a decent engine, but let's see if we can get away with a 4 banger for now" and the Jag? It's British, it sounds brilliant. And they have the D type in the back catalogue. Oh, and the C type, the XK120, the XJR. And perhaps the E type. (!) (I just don't get the old man thing)

Really? To me Audi screams blandness and keeping up with the neighbours; the ultra-performance version any mainstream model of car will always feel like a boggo box with bits bolted on.It would be the Porsche for me but I'd have to be sold on the new engine or I'd be buying one of the last six-pots and enjoy the inevitable glacial level of depreciation.
