Hello everyone, I have been looking into getting an Ultima as a new owner and haven't found many options on the US side for purchase. Would greatly appreciate the help!

There are no options to acquire the car in the U.S. unless you buy used. All the new cars come out of England. These are really good folks and they have sent enough cars over that the issues are very well sorted. Lee

I have only seen 1 for sale in the US and seems the price is through the roof compared to buying from the UK. Any suggestions and what to look for when buying?

I am considering selling my CanAm, titled as a 2004 (the first CanAm delivered into the US) and professionally built by Brammo Motorsports before they decided electric bikes were more profitable! It has less than 3,000 miles on it , hence the reason I'm thinking of selling, as I hardly ever get to use it. It needs getting out of storage and going through, but once I have done that and got it to where I am comfortable a new owner will be happy I'd let if go for $85K. It was built with the best of everything, receipts for the build are in the order of $130K.

If you added the newly introduced factory hardtop option, I think the CanAm offers the best of both Worlds.

That's mine and the price is entirely reasonable, not "through the roof", thank you very much. Take a look at what building an equivalent car will cost and then we'll talk. One's own time priced at zero, of course.

The price has recently been lowered, too, to $125K. I'm not going to give it away, but I am definitely a motivated seller. Try me...

I think the OP was referencing US prices to UK; current FX rate makes buying an Ultima from the factory for US import the cheapest it has ever been. Ultimately (no pun intended) that will likely impact US values of used Ultima's, no matter what we paid at the time.

Current forex climate is one of the biggest reasons I chose to build versus buy an Ultima right now, iIts such a big discount it's hard to ignore. At any other time though, Ken's car would be a bargain given the quality of the build.

Cheers for that. :-)

So, what do you guys figure is a reasonable price for my car in the current climate? I'm not excited about taking a loss, but the situation is what it is and I want to move it sooner rather than later.

It's hard to say what the market is as so few come up for sale. Maybe gauge value by what it would currently cost to build or take a percentage of current FX rate vs. that in force at the time you purchased. Obviously the US bits prices will remain constant.

I've been tracking the base kit cost for a while, and currently there is roughly a $23k discount thanks to brexit threats. Ken, I'm sure that's painful to hear, so if you can hold on to your car for a bit I would. My build budget is comfortably padded, high spec, all options evolution, w/ a new crate motor, digital dash, pdu, etc and including everything from port pickup to final tax and reg, my initial estimate is just shy of $100k. I don't think the pound will stay low, and given current events I think it will recover next year. I could be entirely wrong, but that's where I put my bet.

Well, that makes sense, however disappointing. I've currently lowered the price on the listing and made it OBO. If I need to take a hit on the exchange rate to move it, so be it.

Someone will want this car enough to make me a reasonable offer...

Wow, under $100K including all import fees? I'm betting that's not with the $30K+ LS7 in mine...

I'm a builder/fabricator so I'm doing all my own engine work. That being said, it's not as powerful as your setup and will only come in at around $18k. Most folks would look at a $30k+ price tag for an engine and balk, but what your paying for is knowledge and the tune.
