Time to bite the bullet on a respray
Discussion
With a cracked pepperpot and various scars around the front end I've been contemplating a front end respray on the Tuscan for a while. I've also got some scuffs on the targa hoop and panel so man maths is urging me to have the whole thing done. Then when I conclude that I start considering a colour change. I really love Grigio Titanio and think the Tuscan looks best in mid grey/silverish tones but came across a Sag for sale in NI on the Flea that had a special variation, thoughts on this for a Mk1 Tuscan ?
Its got a slight blue base and very light Spectraflair. On the Tuscan I think a heavy Spectraflair can be a bit too intense with the curves.
I was considering local places to me but S&D aren't as expensive on the base price as I'd thought so seriously considering that. Does anyone know how robust this price is or does it tend to "creep". I have a few issues that need attending like door rubbing and some pulled fixings, would these likely be extras or inclusive in the fixed price ? (I will speak to them but wanted some real life experiences). Some creep will be my own doing like might as well get the wheels refurbed and replace aged trim seals but don't really want the final price driving north of £5k.

I've just had a car painted by S&D.
I spent time explaining what I wanted done as there was a significant amount of GRP rework required. I wasn't as diligent as I should have been reviewing the estimate and some of what I wanted was not in the estimate.
My fault, agreed the price of that work and some other extras I wanted.
4 hours additional (unforeseen work) was the creep.
Overall?
First class work, easy to deal with.
Was it expensive, not for the quality of the work. Am I happy, very. Now being trimmed.

I know that Sag very well and the colour would work well on a Tuscan. That photo you've posted is the most blue i've seen it, and in reality it really is a nice grey with mild blue undertone. I can't remember on how much spectraflair they used, but it is even more subtle than my own car which is Spectraflair lite (now discontinued). If it were me, i'd go slightly stronger on the spectraflair compared to the Sag.
Looks more grey than blue in most lights.
Mild spectraflair.
I haven't used S&D so can't really comment on what they're like to work with but the finish on the Sag was very good. Can't help but think that £5k is daydreaming but hopefully i'm wrong!
One thing i would add from my own experience, is that if you have a bespoke mix, tints, spectraflair etc, then it might limit who you can use at a later date. In my case, if I break anything on mine... a full respray is likely needed as it's a custom job with a product that is no longer available!

£5k? I was quoted £8K plus for my cerbera
Even with the dreaded VAT (and paint)..... a non-flip colour should make that less than a £5k base price ?Anyone ever achieved these prices in reality ?
Who's got a decent job done for much less than this ?

Paint was about £2k alone, plus the additional parts, new window seals, door seals etc
Got a quote from a local place that does classic cars, including some of Nick Masons and they were £6k
