Read several threads on this already so apologies for the repetition.

Can I simply buy this and stick it in the rear CD slot?

It might work, but depends if you have a DVD only system (before MY2007) or HDD based system (2008 onwards but before the Garmin).

This is clearly a not so legal copy from an individual (see text in ad) so better get this for free, or pay Euro 150 at the nearest Volvo dealer neer you to get an official (and legal) upgrade that works in your Aston.

Why do you assume it isn't legit? I bought a volvo disc update on eBay for a similar price and it was genuine and yes it worked fine on my Aston.

Of course you can buy legit Volvo updates discs on eBay too, but this specific ad / seller writes "DVD is compatible with any volvo navigation system (RTI), but it is not a copy of original product. It is only my personal creation." :-)

I purchased a disc for my 08 DB9 from www.latestsatnav.co.uk worked perfect straight away.
We're helpful and prompt.

... And I got 2016 disc (with 6 digit Postcode) from www.satnavdisc.co.uk and it is brilliant. Just insert and it updates. Still have the Aston wings on startup.
