Silverstone track day Sat 10th Dec
Discussion
I love you hard core Ultima owners. Mine has been in it's winter wraps for a month now and is hibernating nicely. It will awaken when the dreaded council applied rust promoter is all washed away.
I did a Silverstone track day in early Dec a few years back. Cold, wet and even snow - not much fun at all!

PS. Mine will probably do more miles in France next year than in the UK...

Always a bit of a gamble at this time of year for the weather and road salt reasons you mention. However looking quite mild at the moment....I did a Silverstone track day in early Dec a few years back. Cold, wet and even snow - not much fun at all!

I heard from a racing team recently that the stuff they spray on the Brands Hatch circuit to prevent icing in the winter is extremely corrosive to cars. Not sure about other circuits and Silverstone with what they do. Have a safe enjoyable day, recommend giving the car a full wash outside, underneath and under the front and rear clips afterwards in any case.

I hadn't heard of this. However looking at the weather forecast for later in the day tomorrow the underside looks like it will be getting a thorough wash!Hopefully will manage a few laps before the heavens open.

Hope you enjoy the day. Please ensure you are using 'wets'.Hopefully will manage a few laps before the heavens open.

Silverstone circuit has a big difference in grip levels between the old circuit and new parts. Also there is a big increase in grip available off the racing line.
Please tell me you have opted to rent a garage!!!

I don't actually blame you. Do you have kumhos?
No SP2's but the risk of having an off in the wet doesn't appeal to me - seen quite a few spin seemingly harmlessly onto the grass only to continue into unforgiving tyres against a solid earth bank - i'll wait for a dry day Ult-Jim said:
How was it this weekend at Silverstone and Goodwood? Any feed back on handling, grip, thoughts and advice about the ultima on track?
Unfortunately I too didn't make it. I have some mechanical niggles that I am trying to bottom out and the weather forecast took a turn for the worse. I had hoped it might be dry for aome of the day but in the end it looked pretty wet all round. That will teach me to try a December day. Aim to go in the Spring now.
