£100K Garage: Ollie Tebbutt

Rear-wheel drive by Hellcat (how better?!), four-wheel drive by Suzuki and a Nurburgring record holder too

Name: Ollie Tebbutt
Previously owned: Lots of Land Rovers and Minis, plus a few others
Currently owned: Mini Cooper S (R53), Land Rover Discovery 2, Range Rover Classic
On the shortlist: Jaguar XJ8, Range Rover TDV8

Dodge Challenger Hellcat
Cost:
£64,500
Balance: £35,500
Why I chose it: "I wanted a Charger Hellcat, ideally with a manual, but since the only Charger Hellcat available is currently for sale for £130K, I had to 'settle' for the Challenger instead! There's a manual one for sale, but I couldn't pass on one in this colour; I've always said that if you're going to have a stupid car, you might as well have it in a stupid colour!

"I was never one for American cars until about five years ago, but the stuff they've been churning out since then has been very exciting for the most part. With the exception of Ultima, who else in Europe or Asia can sell you a brand new, warranted 700hp+ car for under £250k?! With few mods they seem to run a reliable 850-900hp and would make a brilliantly fun weekend car."

Suzuki Jimny SZ4
Cost:
£12,256
Balance: £23,244
Why I chose it: "As a Land Rover obsessive, it pains me to put this on my list! I've always had a lot of respect for these cars, they're brilliant off road and can go where many larger, heavier Land Rovers definitely can't. I'd send it straight off to KAP Suzuki and get it lifted, caged, on mud terrains and with a lower transfer box ready for some off-road trials. It would make a nice winter runaround too, a nice change from all the Land Rovers that pootle around locally (I know, I'm most guilty of this!)."

SEAT Leon Cupra 280 ST
Cost
: £20,999
Balance: £2,245
Why I chose it: "I love a fast estate, and I also love hot hatchbacks. The combination of the two you see here must have been made with me in mind! This particular example wouldn't be my first choice of colour (I really don't like white), and I'm not a big fan of the wheels, but since I've overspent elsewhere I'll have to make do! It doesn't have the Sub-8 Performance Pack on it, but I don't think that will make an awful lot of difference to me. The large boot would make it a useful daily driver to throw all my muddy boots, dogs and whatever else, and the handling would keep me entertained on a daily basis."

Let's be honest - the warranty on an imported Charger/Challenger will not be much use and once you tune it, you may as well throw it away entirely ;0

Some say the Charger is the better car of the 2 but neither is really a car for UK roads surely (outside of Santa Pod?) - they're about the size of a medium Transit? smile

Nice selection here. But £12k+ on a Jimmy to modify and go off road doesn't seem quite right. I appreciate what you're trying to achieve however!
