On the shortlist: BMW M3 CS (E46), Subaru GC8 Impreza STI, 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback, 1966 Ford F100, Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R, BMW M5 (E60), BMW M5 (E39), Mercedes SL55 AMG, Audi RS4 (B7), Land Rover Defender 110, Classic Mini, BMW 3.0 CS
BMW M5 (E60)
Cost: £17,850
Balance: £82,150
Why I chose it: "I have always been a huge BMW fan and I wanted one in my £100K Garage without a doubt. I was deciding between an E46 M3 and an M6, but instead settled on an M5. Initially I was going to go with an E39 as I believe the shape is more appealing. I also remember one passing me on the A34 once and it was deafening. Instead I chose the E60, mainly due to it being a V10; the more pistons the better, right? This would probably be my daily driver to work, running the family around and covering big distances, with the ability to hoon whenever I wanted as well."
Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA
Cost: £9,995
Balance: £72,147
Why I chose it: "I have always had a strong liking for early Imprezas, from the days of watching Colin McRae win numerous rallies. A friend of mine once owned a 2000 Turbo and that really set it for me; the rumble of the boxer and the violent sucking of the turbo coupled with the fact that it has almost limitless grip - what's not to like? Also I didn't want the computers of modern Imprezas ruining my experience. This would be my wet weekend toy, perfect for the UK B-roads."
Ford Focus RS Mk2
Cost: £17,250
Balance: £54,897
Why I chose it: "I have always liked fast Fords and the Focus RS ticks all the boxes. This particular car is a very nice clean example of an unmolested vehicle. This would be for my wife to drive or for when the Impreza is out of action. It could even be used it for a track day or two."
BMW S1000RR
Cost: £9,690
Balance: £45,207 (fuel for all vehicles and maintenance costs)
Why I chose it: "I'm a biker at heart. For me nothing beats the thrill of being tucked in on full throttle, or leaning hard into corners dragging your knee as you go. The BMW S1000RR is a beautiful piece of kit, with nearly 200hp on something that weighs around 200kg."
