£100K Garage: Alex Hall

Worried the millenials have no taste in cars? Think again!

Name: Alex Hall
Previously owned: Nothing, I'm 14!
Currently owned: Audi A5 (well, my parents do)
On the shortlist: As a first car, a Mazda 2 would be nice.

Audi R8 V10 FSI Quattro
Cost
: £69,998
Balance: £30,002
Why I chose it: "The proper Audi supercar. Special enough to be exciting, but useable enough to be a daily driver. Not as in your face as the Lamborghinis or Ferraris, but that's good thing in my eyes. The V10 is an event too!"

Mercedes S600L Designo V12
Cost
: £13,995
Balance: £16,007
Why I chose it: "What's better than cruising around in extreme opulence? It's pretty much a dream - extremely comfortable, wonderfully smooth, loaded with toys and with a magnificent engine. Brilliance on wheels." (Sadly this S-Class is sold and it's rather difficult to find another S600L for £14K - MB).

Alfa Romeo 147 GTA
Cost
: £9,750
Balance: £6,257
Why I chose it: "This is one of my favourite cars of all time. The Busso V6, partnered with one of the best looking hatchbacks equals an amazing car. People will tell me it will break down, but they're the people who would rather be driving a leased Golf to show off to their neighbours that they are posh, when really they are just hanging on for dear life."

Peugeot 106 Rallye rally car
Cost
: £4,490
Balance: £1,767
Why I chose it: "The most fun cars around, and the most fun sport around. Need I say more?"

This was written very well for a 14 year old. Agree with Audi great car but with less drama than a lambo.

A better selection than many £100k garages - good work, Alex!

A very interesting garage. Who says the younger generation doesn't know their automobiles? I didn't have that cosmopolitan taste at 14, but there was a 427 Cobra in our friends showroom for $7k that wouldn't sell. Of course that was 1966, and a decent house was $20k, our new Valiants and Rambler Americans were around $2200. I recall being astounded that a recent college grad in '66 got hired at $900 monthly and saved half. It was a different world. Good luck to you, lad. You're going to have fun.

Excellent - not too sure about the big engine Audi TT - but I understand the attraction. I do just love the 147 GTA comment - first class, I'm still smiling, and yes he is so right and hits the nail on the head. Most people just don't get something like the GTA, and he does - he will go a very long way!
