I have just been offered a Porsche Panamera by a friend at what I consider a good price. I am not looking to change my current car as I didn't have a replacement in mind. However I am interested in one of these. It is 4 years old 95K miles 4.8 4s. Wheat price should it be and what should I be looking for? I am a total novice where Porsche are concerned. I know it has full main dealer history and is in good condition. I am yet to view the car from a buyer perspective. Any advice much appreciated.

Around the late 20's mark, just remember it will be hard to sell later, say if you were to 20k miles more.

Buy it right and you wont have trouble selling it even with miles on it...they have held their money well, one with miles on it at the entry point price level for the model will sell well if its nice with good history

It's got full service history and is in very good condition. It belongs to a friend of mine. The only thing that has happened to it is he damaged the suspension on a pot hole on his drive. This was repaired at a main dealer. The price he is asking is very low. I also now do only 10 miles a day so would bring the mileage back to average over a couple of years. What are the servicing costs like?

Well if the suspension was fixed by OPC then it's not really an issue.

If you want to be more risk free you can either:

- get an inspection for around £400 independently
- get a 111 point check at a Porsche dealership and put a 2 year warranty on it.

I would say that buying from a friend you're not paying a dealers margin plus you should know if your friend drives it carefully or like a tt. Your friend gets a better price than perhaps a dealer or We Buy Any Car would and he doesn't have to deal with idiots in the classified ads who turn up for a test drive and then after driving it say "I don't like the colour".

I would try getting a valuation from WBAC and see what price such cars are selling for privately in the classifieds. Somewhere in between is a good price for both you and your friend.

Thanks for the replies. I'm seeing the car this week. What should I be looking for? I know pretty much zero about these cars.

If I were you I'd ring an OPC service department and pick their brains for a minute. They are very helpful in my experience

Pay for a full inspection, it's like a survey on the house. You get a detailed written report and you can pick the brains of the inspector. There's no way you can know everything about the car before buying nor by asking on this forum.

I was in the same situation as you a few years ago buying my first Porsche. Inspection the way to go

I drove it today and have bought it. Everything was in order with full history. The price was what a trader had offered him who was going to retail it at £10K more. I'll have it by the end of the month and once it has spent a day in my garage being cleaned it will be pristine. Thanks for the replies.
