I need to replace my tyres and kumho availability is effectively 0.

What are people's experiences of alternatives for trackdays? I know ps2s are better on road, but they're rubbish on track.

Anyone have experience of toyo 888s?

Only got 1 set of wheels Dom.

PS2s go off pretty quickly on track, old tyre.

Now if supersport swerve available in 18 that would be a diff matter smile

Update for anyone interested.

Kumho v70s in 335/30/18 are no more - unless Kumho get an order for 100+ they will not be made.

Had a conversation with Toyo and the good news is they are going to be making the new R888R in 335/30/18.

Slight downside is the closest match for a front is 255/35/18, but if you can squeeze those on, there will shortly be a good track tyre available again.

Even though the BFG g-Force Rival S has a Uniform Tire Quality Grade (UTQG) of 200, I had no issue with these tires and they have been great on and off the track. I ran 4,900 miles on them in eight day with track events every day, no issue and performed like they should be rated 100 UTQG. Price is good and after 4,900 miles they showed little wear, I suspect due to the light weight of the Ultima. I recommend these tires.

Apparently Tirerack.com ships international. Might be a wash with shipping cost after the exchange rate. http://www.tirerack.com/content/tirerack/desktop/e...

Try Nitto NT01 - Competition Road Course (D.O.T compliant)
http://www.nittotire.com/race-tires/nt01-dot-compl...

For the ultimate track day tyre, Hoosier A7 ... Also D.O.T. compliant so are technically "street legal". (Dry use only...)

I tried the R888 255/35/18 and they are too big. They rubbed on the headlamp backing cover when turning, and ripped it off along with the lamps. Costly mistake.

With the longer wishbones you can get 285/35x18 to fit OK.

Just need to put stops on the steering rack to avoid chassis rubbing.

How wide are your front wheels, Paul?

As anyone tried the Pirelli P Zero Corsa? They make both front and rear sizes.

From my wine fuddled memory they are 9.5 inch.

I have two sets of wheels - a road set and track set. I ought to get a pair of road tyres for the wide rims that are currently fitted with almost slick Khumos.

I should say the wider tyres do increase the tramlining (with the Khumo's) and considerably increase steering effort at parking speeds. If I planned to use them for the road I would have to fit power steering.

It you want to transform your car replace the inner rim halves with ones that are two inches wider. Them get 285/30/18 tires. Make sure you have efi and dry sump as your ability to brake and corner will be exponentially greater.
