I'm thinking about getting the Griff's manifolds and Y piece coated. I've had a quote from Zircotec whose prices seem to have doubled in the last few years yikes
Does anyone have any experience of anyone else. Any bad ones pm me please

Hi,
I have just done my ones here, http://www.hipeco.com/eng/
The down side is you have to send them but when you check the price wow what a difference smile

I'm just about to attempt a DIY method this weekend with a tin of this http://www.rust.co.uk/0008-tech-line-high-temperat...

My 4.2 Cerbera reached temps of 300-350 degrees at idle so I'll see what temps are when I have it all back together, might take a while as I have the gearbox to refit as well.

I've used Performance 1 Coatings on a few occasions. Assuming the new manifolds fit then these will be going there too.

Can you keep us updated on these. According to the website that is bloody cheap! I'll be really interested to see how they compare.

sure i will but i will also wrap them with this https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/exhaust-wrap-... due to proximity of starter motor, engine mounts and AC compressor in my application.

Prices seem to be slightly cheaper than Performance 1 if I've read the website correctly. Then there's the added risk of trans continental shipping including insurance to replace £1k worth of manifolds and coating.

I've not found the need to add any wrapping afterwards.

i'm not using AJP engine which means vital components are A LOT closer to my manifolds, i'm talking something like 1-1.5 cm.
so it's worth spending some more money and time doing this now when everything is out and apart than regret it later and probably spend more time and money fixing melted parts

Are then manifolds stainless?

My preference would be an alloy shield between the two - ceramic coated would improve matters further - rather than wrapping. I'm not a fan of wrapping, not to the point of preaching about it and you are free to do as you see fit.

Manifold are stainless
they are alredy ceramic coted in http://www.hipeco.com/eng/ and now i will wrap them in https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/exhaust-wrap-... for added heat protection + starter motor and AC compressor have there own protectioncut and sewn to size as the sleeve http://chimaerapartsonline.co.uk/product/starter-m...

Is that the same process as zircotec or performance 1? As I'm led to believe they are quite different, I'm on my phone so can't make out the Polish site at the minute

Anyone had any experience of WOOF? They seem to do plasma spraying the same as Zircotec?

Had mine done by zircotec, looked great five years ago, had them done in black, now look like a sort of sooty grey colour, a lot of money for something that doesn't keep its colour , of course things might have improved now

I've found the same problem with Zircotec Sterling Silver... and problems with Zircotec flacking... They say they'll redo them but it costs £250 in labour to have them removed and refitted and Zircotec refuse to pay .

Mine were sand blasted and sprayed with Por15, asthectically they look great in sliver and in 5 years some areas have flaked slightly. I just simply rubbed off flaking and using an airbrush reapplied where necessary and it blends in without any spray lines smile.

Downside it has no heat retention properties at all.

Think I'm going give this a miss. It must be, by the time you've paid for removing then replacing manifolds, around £2k and no one seems to have come forward saying that it's great and doesn't fade or flake.

I'm currently talking with these guys and mine WILL be going here.

http://www.camcoat.com/main/coatings1.html

I've been told of various options and benefits for and against. They also asked my usage and requirements. Very impressed and they come up cheaper than Performance 1 (even in the more expensive spec).

Very impressed so far

General consensus of camcoat is not great when compared to Zircotec...
