New AMG special editions for Geneva

AMG GT Roadster gets Edition 50 treatment, plus there's an Ocean Blue C63...

With apparently all of the SUVs and crossovers out of its system (for a while), here's a whole Mercedes-AMG release that focuses on big, powerful coupes and convertibles. Nice. And don't forget if these aren't your thing there's an E63 estate at Geneva as well...

Bad news out of the way first: UK customers will not be offered the C63 Cabriolet Ocean Blue Edition. In fact just 150 buyers worldwide - split between C63 and C63 S - will have the Ocean Blue privilege, the exclusivity identified the unique colour for the roof that is repeated on the front and rear spoilers, on the contrast stitching and on the clock. Perhaps we're not missing out on all that much.

The C43 is also getting a Swiss spruce up with the new Night Edition Cabriolet and Coupe. Those familiar with Mercedes nomenclature (though it doesn't take much guessing) will know that a Night Edition brings a lot of black trim. For the C43 that now means a black grille, black side skirts, black exhaust tips and a black spoiler. Oh yes, and the black wheels. Which Mercedes has chosen to show off with a black car and a dark grey car... Spot the changes if you can!

Of considerably more interest, because it promises so much, is the Edition 50 AMG GT C Roadster. Like the equivalent coupe, the Roadster will be offered in GT C spec once the 500 Edition 50 cars are sold. Distinguishing those will be matt paint (either white or grey) with black accents for the front splitter, Panamericana grille, side skirts and diffuser. The interior features liberal applications of 'Edition 50' lettering and diamond-patterned upholstery, with another Night Package standard equipment inside.

All of these cars are available to order from March 6, although prices haven't yet been released - check back at show time for those. Customers for the C-Classes can expect to receive their cars in June, with the GT Cs due to arrive the month after.

Did anyone else look at the thumbnail and think it was a special edition Fiat 124?
