For future reference for the filler, the use of a 1/2 inch drive is what does the damage. Better to by a 13mm square drive socket as that fills the hole properly and doesn't dig into the sides. That 0.3 mm of clearance in both directions I found made a difference. I presume the same is true for the drain.
