yes but secondhand engine and box might mean q reg doesnt it?

Not sure, I purchased my sbc from the factory, that was used in their 640 demo car, plus the G50 box also. It's my understanding that once IVA'd it would get a new reg. I would certainly not be happy with a Q.

Unless it's changed you can only have 1 major component that isn't new and this needs accompanying proof to state something like "refurbished to as new condition" - someone will know the exact term.

Normally it's either the engine or gearbox, but not both. Factory may have refurbed 1 or both and can provide any necessary statement and advice you need for IVA.

Yes only 1 used part allowed and that would normally be the gearbox or SBC block.
From the Gov.Uk website:

Get a current registration number
You can register a kit-built car, motorcycle or tricycle with a current registration number if you can prove it’s all made from new parts supplied by the manufacturer.

You can also get a current registration number for a kit-built car, motorbike or tricycle built with one reconditioned part if:

you can show that the part has been reconditioned to an ‘as new’ standard, in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines
the part isn’t the chassis, monocoque bodyshell or frame

Me and my dad want to get one up and running, registered and enjoy it over the summer!
