Insurance for 355 spider
Discussion
Can anyone help....I am trying to get insurance for a 355 spider and quite frankly I am amazed at the cost....ok the car concerned is circa £70 k but i do not live in London (actually live in the countryside) and I am nearly 30 - I have full NCB and have driven performancce cars for yrs (latest Cerb 4.5)...bearing in mind the cerb is/was worth £32k how the hell can the best quote so far be £4800 per annum !!!!! when the TVR is only £1000.....only got 3 points too...am I looking in the wrong place ??? Can anyone suggest some other shops please...
Fraser, tried to return your email, but got a message saying it failed to go through. Something wrong on your side I think.
Anyway, here's details of the email:
Hi Fraser,
Good move! Graypaul are brilliant guys. Regarding the insurance front, as
you are nearly 30, most of the Ferrari specialists should give you a go.
Also, try privilege insurance (www.privilege.co.uk). They told me that had I
been a year older, it would have cost me £2,600, but unfortunately they
wouldn't cover me. Also, try www.swinton.co.uk, they'll search a panel of
insurers and give you a quote. They can be very good.Another company who
were relatively competitive were endsleigh insurance (www.endsleigh.co.uk).
You can try all the above at their website and they should all be sub £3K
for you.
Also, definitely try the Ferrari specialists:
www.footmanjames.co.uk 0121 561 4196
AON 01483 70 60 70
Nowell & Richards 01785 255514
FCI 020 8532 9637
Classic Line 01455 619022
AON are supposed to be quite good and I think a lot of Ferrari owners
are/were insured with them at some time. They should be competitive as one
guy who lives in london, 31yrs old with full no claims etc pays £1,300 p.a.
including track cover (6,000 mile limit but can be increased).
Good luck and let us know how you get on. You'll love the 355 to bits after
several months of ownership as it later dawns on you how capable the car
really is, and that its limits are probably beyond what you can exploit!
Just stay away from other 355 owners with a tubi as it could get to be an
expensive habit.
I think you can get a good quote out of the above, but if you don't
let me know and I'll have another look through the Ferrari Owners Club
magazine to what else there is. Will you have it in time for Sunday, for the meeting in Virginia Waters? Should be quite a few Ferrari's going.
Look forward to seeing you and the 355 soon. What colour combo did you get?
Warm Regards
Ali
PS. I've got some sound files of my car, haven't got any video clips just yet as I've only got an analogue camcorder. I'll put them on my ftp and post a link here later today.
