heh, I had a mate with a mk2 XR2 that sounded like that (exhaust had fallen off).

Anyone know what type of engine it is? It looks like a World War 2 Allison V12.

that is crazy. i think that that is quite a good visual of how an engine develops power.

I think it is Eric. If I recall, he rebuilt the whole thing in his garage.....think I saw a tv programme about it, but not too sure....

Having heard Allisons in action (in Lockheed P-39 Lightnings and Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawks), I can say that I actually prefer the noise they make compared to a Merlin.

I used to do the same thing in my shed with a rover V8 engine....used to drive the neighbours nuts.
